We were doing a mini road trip throughout northwest France and thought St. Brice seemed liked a good half-way point between the Loire Valley and Mont St. Michel. We pulled up to this lovely bed and breakfast and were immediately taken in by the charm of the grounds and home. We also stayed in the Cote Parc, which gave us the feeling of being tucked away in an old castle. The home has been lovingly restored - my favorite was the old tower staircase - and is impeccably kept.
Our hosts could not have been warmer and friendlier. We enjoyed a delicious dinner with them and learned we were the first Americans they had ever hosted! The honor is all ours. If you take dinner with the hosts, be sure to check out the coat of arms in the fireplace from the 17th century.
Be sure to take a walk around St. Brice and enjoy the fresh air, church and beautiful scenery. If you pass the large cross, be sure not to get too close to the wire fence, as two very curious and none-too-shy bulls will come trotting up to assess your intentions. The night sky was simply breathtaking; being from Southern California, we were astonished by the number of stars one could see!
It was a wonderful stay in the French countryside, and our hosts made sure of our every comfort. We would recommend them to all.More
