We stayed 4 nights at Taura'a in January. It was a very good value with absolutely wonderful breakfasts. They gave us rides to and from the airport. Our first day there Bill took us for a short drive around town before his morning tour and dropped us off at the museum just outside of town. When we needed a taxi to drop us off for a north shore hike and a pick up at Anakena Beach, Edith arranged it all and made sure that we didn't pay the driver until he picked us up several hours after dropping us off. Great location, easy to walk around town. When we needed to dry clothes, we were able to use their clothesline. They gave us a very large room since there were 3 of us, and we were able to keep our gear there until our evening departure. Very comfortable beds. Very nice people and beautiful gardens.

Fantastic hotel and location - right down town. Walking distance to restaurants, beaches, groceries, shopping, etc. Edith, a Rapa Nui, is a most gracious host and is willing to talk to you anytime, even when she is busy planting more trees, flowers, etc. Fresh fruits every day - bananas, papayas, mangos, flowers on the breakfast plate, eggs and wonderful fresh fruit juice. Bill, an Australian, is one phenomenal tour guide. Since he worked on the film "Rapa Nui" for Hollywood he researched the Rapa Nui history and culture thoroughly. His knowledge is impressive. He was our tour guide and modified the tours for us since two of the three were using canes and needed a slower pace. The hotel is made of about 15 units spread throughout their property. They were first class for Rapa Nui. We met many of Edith's relatives who owned restaurants, carved Rapa Nui statues including Moi, and worked around the island. They were all friendly and informative. Watching Edith's brothers and family doing wood carving is a great experience. Many of their carvings are incorporated into the gardens, patio decks, table legs, etc. Taura'a is an experience never to miss.

The title says it all. Another reviewer mentions he met a guy who has stayed here 7 times. That's me!! I'll be going for #8 next year, and of course during Tapati. Tapati is an experience that words can't describe. you will just have to experience it on this magical, spiritual island. As described in other reviews, the hotel and staff are great. I am not a coffee or tea drinker, so they prepare hot chocolate for me to accompany the made to order breakfasts. The layout of the hotel is ideal for single travelers because it's impossible not to meet other travelers. Of course, it's excellent for families as the Rapa Nui people are very family oriented. What more can I say? Returning year after year says it all.

Just returned from Easter Island after eight glorious days at the Tapati Festival. This hotel was the icing on an exquisite cake. It all starts with a lei greeting and gets better;. Breakfast is first-rate, your choice of eggs just the way you want them, or how about crepes? The best juice blend you'll ever taste and lots of coffee and fruit and fresh rolls. My bed was a comfortable king. I didn't come expecting a Grand Hyatt. After all. this is an island with no TV. Yes, there are teeny-tiny ants in the room, so just put everything edible in the fridge and live with them. Oh yes, save those bottles and refill them, the water is fine, and if you have doubts boil it at night in the coffee maker, fill your bottles in the morning and put them in the fridge for the next day. This folks here do not like having you cluttering up their paradise with unneeded rubbish. For the budget minded, there is a terrific bakery right across the street where you can grab goodies (definitely try the empanadas) to take touring. Location, location, location. Don't be enticed to those expensive hotels out of town because you will want to be in the heart of things. The hotel provides a card that will get you discounts in lots of local places--very handy. And their tours are first-rate. Any problems, just go to Bill and Edith and they will solve them. They made me feel like one of the family, which happens to be huge and influential on this island. I met a man who was staying here for the seventh time, that should tell you all you want to know.

Room Tip: Stay within walking distance of town.

This hotel is well situated in the center of Hanga Roa. Edith and Bill, the owners, helped us organize our amazing vacation in Easter Island, picking us up at the airport with flower necklaces and suggesting restaurants, tours, sites, discounts, and activities that were perfect for us and for our teenaged daughters. In fact, Bill took us on a tour himself and was extremely knowledgeable and interesting for us all. Edith was just lovely to our kids. Yes, the prices in Easter Island are generally high but the location is amazing and the breakfasts were delicious. Thanks for a wonderful wonderful trip.

Room Tip: Rooms that are not on the main street side are quieter but the level of street noise is not terrible.
