Had a most wonderful fantastic holiday from the 6th - 17th May 2014 .Was a little apprehensive before I went . Though most of the reviews were favourable you will get some people that no matter how hard you try you can't please them . They never mentioned the two lifts that take you to ground level , with just a little gap between pool and the next level , yes there are steps but nothing you can't handle. My husband could manage fine and that's after having 3 back operations in the last 4 years. Anyway its well worth the effort because the beach is beautiful and safe. I normally don't spend much time on the beach but I went nearly every day. Beach beds free and if you are all inclusive you have beach bar for snacks , drinks, ice cream..free.
The hotel was one of the best I have stayed in .From the moment you arrived to when you left the staff couldn't do enough, from reception , restaurant , bar ,porters and cleaning staff all went out of their way to help. The chefs even made gluten free bread for both my friend and then printed out the recipe for me . Food excellent great choices something for everyone. all inclusive great value,
Aqua aerobic s in pool everyday with the two entertainment guys both very talented.
All in great holiday my friends and my husband will definitely be back .

Room Tip: Pay extra for Seaview Room , well worth it. Top floor best

Just returned on the 20th June and overall I found Crete in Agia Marina had changed but not necessarily for the better. First off 1st time from East Midlands Airport and certainly the last time. Terribly overcrowded and very messy. However, transfer via resorthoppa good until they drop you off. Almost a mountain to climb to get to the reception then 100 steps down to get to our room! It's the same going back; you get picked up at the bottom, not reception. Not for the faint hearted, less ambulant nor the elderly. I offered to pay for another room but unfortunately fully booked. Very important to get the right room but it would still be a gamble. Food at all times was more than satisfactory with ample choice but could have been just a little warmer. The friendly staff are all, with little exception, either Bulgarian or Romanian but are friendly just not too efficient. The poolside bar adjacent to a lovely pool is friendly and efficient and until the evening always has a choice of snacks. A good alternative to climbing those steps as only halfway from the bottom. This is also the location for the Italian open air restaurant which was surprisingly very pleasant and recommended. As the steps really were a problem for us we choose to visit a few of the tavernas slightly downhill from the hotel. We found Helena to the left at the foot of the downward path and Faros to the right(in Stalos only 10 minute walk), really good. And they were Greek. Pleased we met some while on holiday! Overall I don't think we will even revisit Greece again let alone Crete. We had enjoyed Greece so many times since our first visit in 1972 but expansion has killed the chance of finding that little taverna where ideas can be exchanged. The rooms are ample sized but pick the right time, which is limited, to get a warm shower. You won't get a hot one. Finally the entertainment was for us non existent. I don't like the idea, when all inclusive, being asked to pay 10euros to see Greek dancing a good way of providing entertainment.
Definitely above 3*where we have stayed many times but way, way behind any Turkish or Egyptian 5*. Sorry But Galini Sea View completely shattered my wonderful memories of Greece.

Room Tip: I would suggest a sea view but definitely not any room on 1st or 2nd floor and take your proof of booking with you as you could get the wrong room.

As previous entries definitely not 5 star more 3/4. Only 1 pool and not many sunbeds so spent days on beach but payed 5 euros for 2 beds and brolly so not bad . Bonus was using the beach bar but lunch a bit limited especially when you don't like cheese! was in room 2205 that had permanent stink of drains especially after shower and could smell in running water. Bought spray and told reception , was noted but think major problem somewhere. payed for sea view but limited.
the restaurant was not pleasant experience due to being so cramped, don't think they could squeeze any more in. also very poor layout, Breads etc near door entrance with toaster and hot water etc for tea also, then ramp down to tables, elderly people, kids around, not good carrying hot drinks with people in and out. Ate in Chinese restaurant , more spacious, food good though mains was cold, but nice experience. went to Chania on bus twice and ate there for 2 nights, lovely place.

Just returned from 2 weeks at Galini SeaView and we had a superb time. Noura (reception) Agis (beach bar) and Dorothe (Chinese restaurant) were all excellent, as were all the serving staff in the restaurant. Our room was a side sea view which faced the restaurants but we weren't disturbed by them at all. There is a great selection of food in the restaurant - just about anything you could eat really! Yes, there are lots of steps (given it's position on the hill) but there are ramps and lifts in most places. The beach was always busy so we did learn to get there for about 9 or do as everyone else and one of us put towels down! May as well join the others! Overall we had a wonderful time and were sad to leave
