There is no such double bed here!
Wifi was weak and so the internet connection.
The bathroom facilities were old, water from the drawer was coming weakly.
There were not enough facilities in the room: dryer, ironer, or slipper.
Service was good.
I think this hotel can only be rated 3 stars.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in june 2014. We were 13 people travelling together and we checked in to 4 rooms in total.

The outside areas are quite good. The pools are diversified and offer something for all ages. The large slides proved very fun for the whole family.

The rooms however, are below average. The main problem is that the aircondition system is simply terrible. It is not able to cool the room at all. This applied to all 4 rooms we rented and the hotel was not able to remedy it. They sent technicians to look at it but the problem is likely the whole system itself. The result is that our sleep quality ended up being very poor.

The bathrooms were also below average. The doors to the showers almost fell apart everytime you tried to enter. And there was no place to leave the showerhead on the wall so you had to shower by holding the showerhead in your hand - not my preference..

My suggestion is that you look elsewhere for a hotel. They charge 4-star level, but do not deliver accordingly!

This hotel is great for the whole family. The location is perfect. 500 meters from the beach, and it takes about 15 minutes to walk to Platanias square.
The areas in the hotel are great. They have two pools by the snack/drink bar and this year they opened a waterpark in the back of the hotel - 100% succesfully. So there is a lot of space for those who loves the pool instead of the beach ;-)

The service is fantastic, they are more than happy to help you, and also to have a chit chat doing the day/evening.

The rooms are not wauw standard, but they have what they need, in a neutral style.

The food in the restaurant is good, and has a fair price.

We did spend two nice weeks in this Hotel. It is good family Hotel and children and also we did like pools, food(half service) and people. Our Apartment was on third floor, and we did see Some sea from Our balcony. Cleaners did visit six times in week Our room was clean. Hotel area was like nice looking park' With trees and Flowers. There was always free sunbeds on pool area and 300m from sea and Also good shop was near. We did rent a car for 6 days and parking area was next to hotel. Air conditioning could be More efficient. Wi-Fi did not work well, but on Holiday that is not a big deal. Hotel was not big and rooms were not modern, but that was what we expected .

Room Tip: Room With balcony, More privacy

Iolida Village is a short walk away from a nice beach and the restaurants, pubs and clubs from livelier Platanias but it is not a four star hotel as rated on TUI/Finnmatkat, rather a two star hotel.

We stayed as a young couple in Iolida Village on the ground floor in a studio apartment which was very basic, bare and bleak. We also experienced the second floor, one bedroom apartment with gabled roof which was a really airy, bright and comfortable and a complete opposite to the studio apartment.

The studio room was very bleak and bare, not at all comfortable or inviting. The room had a small kitchenette with just basics but at least the fridge was useful to have.

The bathroom was awfully dreary and small with broken toilet seat cover that pinched your behind when sitting on the toilet. The shower cubicle was small and one door did not close. The shower drain didn't work sufficiently enough. There was no room for any toiletries in the shower cubicle or in the bathroom so you had to keep essential shampoos and whatnots on the shower cubicle floor and other daily toiletries on the kitchen table, that was really annoying. Furthermore, several floor and wall tiles were broken and the overall atmosphere of the bathroom wasn't very uplifting.

We had booked a double room but the double bed was just two old wooden beds pushed together with a 20 centimetre gap between the mattresses. Not really a suitable bed for a couple! In addition the beds were covered with plastic covers/sheeting which are used for small children prone to accidents in their beds and those covers made our nights very sweaty so sleeping wasn't a pleasant and relaxing experience one hopes for from a holiday.

Air conditioning was no help to our nightly sweats because we couldn't keep the air con on during the whole night because the air con was situated just opposite the beds and it would blow cold air directly to our feet.

We had a ground ”terrace” which was small and bare. Because the ”terrace” faced a busy pass way, the noise of people and children passing by screaming, running, etc. was very loud even in the room itself.

The breakfast wasn't appealing and the choices were very limited. For fresh vegetables there was just big slices of bitter cucumbers and soggy tomatoes. Various fruits were presented in the breakfast room but they were not peeled and sliced for the comfort of hotel guests.

The pool area was quite nice looking and clean although very busy and loud. Because the pool area is not very large the sun beds were cramped together. Also the condition of the sun beds varied between new sun beds as well as old and torn ones so you had to be careful when choosing a sun bed to sun bathe on so not to fall through the beds when sitting on them.

The hotel provides free Wifi but the connection is lousy and it would disconnect often when it finally worked. And when the Wifi worked it was very, very slow.

We had to buy a late checkout (6 hours for 24 €) because we had a late flight out of Chania and we received a one bed room apartment on the second floor. The apartment had a gabled roof and it was very airy as well comfortable and it was decorated much more nicely than the studio apartment we spent our holiday in. It also had so much nicer bathroom than the studio apartment had. It was clean, spacious, modern and with room to place your toiletries on.

In a nutshell: if you can get the one bedroom apartment with a balcony and gabled roof for a good deal you might get value for your money. I wouldn't recommend purchasing any meals and certainly not the All Inclusive package from the hotel because the quality of food/drink isn't very good and because there is a very good as well as affordable Cretan supermarket just a hundred meters down the road towards the beach.

Stayed at Iolida Village late May 2013.

Room Tip: Reserve one bedroom, second floor apartment with gabled roof.

We stayed at the hotel with two kids 1 year and 3 years. I must admit that the hotel itself is nice and clean. However there are almost no entertainment and the entertainment they have is late (9pm) the all inclusive is okay both food and alcohol however the kids food and drinks are close to none. You get a poor choice of some juices and other beverages are very expensive. The beach is close by but it's very rocky and not suited for kids. The personnel is very service oriented and happy however I would not come back here for another vacation.
