Description: The Bath Arms at Crockerton on the Longleat Estate in Wiltshire is under the care of chef Dean Carr, formerly of The Ivy and Bishopstrowe House. Although The Bath Arms is a truly excellent gastropub, it’s clear that Carr respects country pub traditions. You can expect a warm welcome, open fires, relaxed atmosphere, beer garden, and familiar dishes. But you can also enjoy modern comforts, professional service, fine beers and innovative meals, too. Signatures include starter of fishcake with Cornish crab and broad bean and main course of sticky beef with braised red cabbage. Beer festivals, Caribbean BBQs and other events liven this picturesque corner.

“Top notch gastro pub fare”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2011

Aside from the fact the pub itself needs a bit of a spruce up, and the banquet seats re-springing, this is a fantastic venue for top notch gastro-pub fare. Portions are enormous (the mixed grill comprises chicken, pork chop, beef steak, gammon steak, 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and chips) and the food cooked to perfection. A fellow diner said the sticky beef was so good they'd pick up the plate and lick it if they weren't in polite company, my fishcake was accompanied by divine buttered broad beans with mint and crab. They serve good beer too.

“Quiet country pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2011

This country pub tucks away from the main road so the setting is peaceful and quiet. We went for early dinner, when we arrived we were the only customer in the restaurant. We had burgers and lambs. Both dishes were cooked well and tasteful. We especially liked the chuncky chips, which was cooked to perfection and came in a pot, the portion was very generous, we could hardly finish one single pot between two people. The bread was fresh and soft.
The foods are on a pricy side but the standard is good. Service was efficient.

“Great B&B accomodation-Bar manager a bit sniffy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2010

We stayed here late August (2 x families). Super modern comfortable rooms & excellent shower facilities. Breakfast was also excellent. Dinner was very good if a little over priced, and overall the waiting staff could not be more helpful, including Dean the owner. One waiter we had over the two evening meals was particularly ourstanding with great travel and sightseeing advice.
The only dampner we felt was the Bar/restaurant manager was stand off'ish, not particularly freindly (a forced smile/grimace......) and it showed-a real shame.
