Have recently had a couple of meals at the Red Lion. The Fish Pie was very good - full of flavour and piping hot. Yesterday the Smoked Haddock Pie was very tasty, the smokiness of the fish coming through beautifully. Three bitters on tap, two ciders and a selection of good lagers and wines. All in all the Red Lion does a much better job then the Prince Leopold in Upton Lovell which is supposed to be a gastro-pub!

Room Tip: The family room is great value for money

Now eaten here twice since the new people have taken it over. The staff are very hospitable, the food is great and we'll definitely go there're again. Good area for walks and the pub has free wifi. Well behaved dogs are allowed as well!

New team running this pub are a family of 3 generations who seeml to have it well organised. Our room (3) was adequate but the large well equipped en-suite bathroom did reduce its size a bit. Breakfast was good and the variety excellent. Good pub food too and some well kept real ales.
Heytesbury is a pleasing old village with a pleasant riverside walk and is within easy reach of Longleat, Stonehenge etc.

We stayed here for 1 night with my very aged parents. The owners couldnt have been more helpful & friendly! The rooms were lovely. Spotless and the beds were 1st class!
The food was exceptional.

I would highly recommend the Red Lion as a base if you are visiting Bath, Longleat etc.

Room Tip: Go there! You wont be disappointed!

Really nice people and great food. The rooms were comfortable too. I had heard the hot water didn't work here but it was fine. You just had to let the tap run for a few minutes.

We have just spent 3 nights at the Red Lion. We stayed in the family room and found it very comfortable, and the breakfasts were really delicious. Very friendly owners I would definately stay there again.
