Stayed here for a weekend with my walking club. It was clean, warm, friendly (staff and other guests). Great having food cooked for you, good value too. Would recommend to others. If you don't want to share with strangers booking would be a good idea, in advance. The staff are friendly and the food they supply/cook is really good value for money. You can also have a beer or two on the premises.

Room Tip: Very small kitchen, although well equiped apart from fridge space.

What a wonderful place. The building has a lovely warmth to it, maybe something to do with the beautiful wooden floor on the ground floor. I loved the quirkiness of the building and the way some of the original features had been maintained. Nearly every window (that I saw) had a window seat, so you could take in a view of the garden. Beer Village is only a very short walk from the hostel as is the beach. Many thanks to the member of staff who recommened I wear my wellies on the walk to Branscombe, I enjoyed the walk very much, but perhaps wouldn't have with wet feet! My room was very comfortable and spacious. The only downsides I can think of were that I had to wait ages for the shower to warm up (but when it had it was great), and the self catering kitchen could do with a paper towel dispenser. I would recommend this hostel to anyone.

Stayed one night in Beer youth hostel just before Christmas. Lovely location and great facilities. What really mad the stay though was Jamie who made our stay he could not have been more helpfull. Really useful to have a local member of staff able to give tips on stuff to do in the local area. Cheers.

Very friendly welcome. Perhaps a little difficult to find and the showerrs were very cramped for a big person but there was a lovely family atmosphere and a splendid breakfast. Good value; a splendid stop for someone walking the South West Coastal path.

The property itself is a lovely building tucked away just a stone's throw from the centre of Beer. It has a restaurant, parking and spaces for camping (which is very good value at £5 a night, my friend took advantage of this) The dorm room which I stayed in was fine, though some of the people using it were exceptionally inconsiderate in coming in and making their beds after 11pm! (putting on the main lights as there are no side lights) There is a restaurant which provides meal deals, though the food itself is not up to the standard of some brilliant hostel food which I have eaten elsewhere. The staff though are very helpful and friendly and the meal service was second to none! The self catering kitchen is on the small side. However at £22.50 a night for a single dorm bed it is on the expensive side (and that is with the YHA discount), especially when you consider that I found a B and B with breakfast at £30right on the seafront and independent hostels these days can be found at £12.

A wonderful hostel, location and exceptionally well run hostel by friendly and helpful staff and manager, Jon. I spent a couple of days here and really loved the breakfast and delicious dinner which came as a surprise, expecting the usual self catering only hostel facilities. The only points to note however, for me I prefer female only toliets and shower areas to relax and pamper and I didn't like the fact that no alcohol was permitted and instead there was a bar which didn't serve the local cider for example. I felt this went against the spirit of hostelling and was an unusual experience for me. All in day, a lovely building, great facilities and comforts and a great location to explore Beer and beyond.

Tucked away above and at the back of the village of Beer. The Youth Hostel has a flat grass garden, great for the kids. With views across rolling hills and the town. Making the large arts and crafts house a great place for group parties and events. Events that can be self contained or to supply a base for trips out to the wider area. 5 mins walk to the centre of its idylic fishing village, cove and coastal path.

What makes this place great is being able to book the whole place out using the trained and friendy staff to make it great. We took a sound system and a bouncy castle. The friendly team helped organise food, directed us with local knowledge supplied extra facilites and made the whole place safe and sound. We had a great party with as many kids as adults... Brill people... brill place... I would go back with just my girlfriend - or for another group party.

Room Tip: The rooms are all good, from what people in the party said. If youve got kids, that you can keep an...
