We were recommended by local hotelier but we were so disappointed. The Turbot was over cooked and a very small portion. Skate was small and not very good. Service friendly and quick modern seating and tables do not really go with old building. We won't be back.

Thank peter C

Once again our visit to Steamers did not disappoint. It is a credit to Andy and his staff that your meal experience will always leave you wanting to come back.

We had high expectations based on TripAdvisor reviews, but Steamers didn't live up to expectations. The restaurant specialises in seafood, but my Turbot was very overcooked. The staff handled my complaint well, and replaced it. Overall a disappointing experience for both of us, considering the cost.

Sorry about your disappointing experience at Steamers Restaurant, Your Turbot was replaced extremely quickly with a fresh dish and your complaint was handled very well but still your whole experience at Steamers restaurant was still disappointing, The 2nd Turbot you ate you said was lovely, much better than the first. Was there anything else the staff at Steamers could have done for you? was the rest of your meal enjoyable?
Many thanks

Friendly and personal service with good tasty food. The fish had run out, however the beef and lamb were very tasty! Had not booked but were squeezed in!

We enjoyed a reasonable lunch at this restaurant (tearoom/café) in enchanting Beer.We both had the 3 course menu at a very reasonable price of some £15. Mussels were very good; grilled Torbay sole a little greasy ( swamped in olive oil before cooking) and the Pavlova a bit stale( probably left-over).But the meal was fine on the whole. Wine by the glass were of poor quality. I always know as I have a headache the next day. The ambience is also disappointing. There is nothing special about it to match the food. All very basic.A large vase of plastic flowers sums it all up.Service ok, but all a bit mechanical. How we miss the restaurant which was nearby in the Old Bakery. That had style. Steamers misses that completely. Shame as the food is above average.
