What a fabulous find, in the heart of the New Forest. We spent the Bank Holiday there, indulged in a suite, and dined extremely well each evening. We truly couldn't fault anything. Liz, who owns this magical bolthole, obviously cares passionately about ensuring her guests have a wonderful time and this goes for all her staff too. Set in beautiful gardens - housing a sculpture exhibition - with a river running through it, the Mill also has its own resident duck, called Crispie! Enjoying exquisite interiors, the Mill is popular with locals and visitors alike, with the restaurant full every night of our stay, and has a very happy atmosphere. We will be back!

Room Tip: The suite is roomy, beautifully decorated and with a fabulous bathroom.

The Mill at Gordleton is our all time favourite eating and visiting place. We took four friends to stay to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It was a magic experience. Beautiful rooms, fantastic gardens, superb food and such a pleasant group of people to look after you. Must get there more often. An experience to savour. Terry and Jean Langford, LMilford on Sea, Hants.

Room Tip: The two overlooking the stream are just beautiful.

We were invited by friends to join them for dinner. The situation of the property is fantastic with a small stream running through the gardens. The staff were friendly and professional throughout. We had been advised that there was a restricted menu on a Sunday evening but we could not fault the delicious Roast Beef served pink as we had requested with delightful fresh vegetables. The hotel prides itself on making all its own bread, desserts, jams etc I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: If it is a warm evening the garden tables are delightful - blankets are provided if it gets a little...

We enjoyed a fantastic meal ,with faultless service ,yummy food and being part locals/part Londoners, we are very fortunate to have such a superb dining experience, setting a standard that quite simply is not matched in the area.We have dined at Chewton Glenn Vetiver , all top local restaurants and can quite confidently say this is by far the best. You won't be disappointed and will want to go back for more !

Keep up the good work Liz and staff!

Mike Woodside.

We have just spent two remarkable nights at this hotel in room 2 overlooking the river and garden, the only way to describe our short stay was "absolutely excellent" the ambiance, food, accommodation, garden and without exception all the Staff make this hotel one to remember and one you will want to return to ASAP.

We arrived to a very warm welcome and were shown to our room (7) which was wonderfully spacious, spotlessly clean and had little touches of bottled water, fresh fruit, biscuits and quality toiletries. The gardens are beautiful and a very tranquil place even when the restaurant and hotel are busy. All of the staff were impeccably polite with a discreet and efficient service. We only ate in the restaurant on one evening as we are attending a party locally on the other, and the food was delicious, perfectly cooked, plentiful and served in a proper manner. We retired to the bar after dinner for drinks, and with the warmth of the fire welcome after it turned a bit chilly, it was the perfect end to a lovely day. Breakfast is excellent with a good choice of cereal, yoghurts, juices and fruit and a good choice of cooked options. I was pleasantly surprised to find that tea is served as it should be with loose tea rather than tea bags. If you like the finer things in life, you will enjoy staying at this hotel where you are looked after extremely well with beautiful surroundings and delicious food. We can't wait to come and visit our friends again so that we can stay here.

Room Tip: We were in room 7 at the front of the hotel. We thought we may hear traffic as we had the windows op...

We stopped here to break up a long journey and left wishing we had stayed for a few days. The grounds, complete with sometimes quirky sculptures, are beautiful and relaxing. The food was very good indeed and sitting on the terrace watching the sun disappear across the stream spanned by the Monet style footbridge was wonderful. Rooms are stylish clean and well laid out (Outdated? - no way), beds are comfortable and we slept soundly. We found all the staff very helpful and friendly and particularly enjoyed the excellent breakfast, followed by another walk round the grounds.
highly recommended for a special occasion, anniversary or just as a treat because, of course, you deserve it.
