Loved the touches pigs heads the money on the ceiling the rustic finish and a roaring fire. Great views and friendly bar service. Loved it. Worth a visit for a cold drink in a hot day or that same drink by a roaring fire on a winter day

Stopped in here for an early dinner while staying at Omapere. The pub was warm and welcoming while it rained outside. The bar menu had plenty to choose from and food was served quickly. The locals were friendly, drinks cold, food hot. This is a good enough choice when there’s not much around. I had a burger and my husband had salt and pepper calamari - no complaints.

My friend and I stayed here and while the people were lovely and the rooms were very clean but small. The breakfast was below average. Not even a decent coffee only white bread. I would not stay there again. The room we were given was next to the driveway so constant cars all times of day and night. We looked out the windows to the back entrance to the takeaway rubbish bags and empty cardboard boxes filled the back yard. We could smell the cooking fat stored in the barrels in the yard. Walls were thin so you could hear every noise. Broken chair on the small balcony. Toilet loose on the floor pan. No where to hang your towels or clothes when having a shower. The fridge froze our food in the room fridge. Very Noisey when guests went past our room. To top it off we had no hot water from early sat afternoon as the hot water heater had a problem. We were not informed of this until we went to the office later that night. Which I thought was very poor. When I tried to fill the sink with boiled water to have a wash the plug in the bathroom did not even fit the sink hole, so could not even hold water. All in all I had a "faulty towers" experience. Beautiful area. Stunning views. Management could do with a good overhaul, as this is not a good look for this hotel. OPONONI is an amazing place. It is a unique area that offers a traveller an incredible experience that is not to be missed when traveling around the north.

Small beach room but very well thought out, immaculately clean, large shower in en-suite, large Tv, fridge and A/C.Restaurant and bar on site. There was live music there the night we stayed, friendly atmosphere. We dined in the Boar and Marlin restaurant attached and had the hot stone cooked meat, I was a bit perturbed when presented with a platefull of raw meat, I was amazed it worked but it was a bit of fun and was delicious. Breakfast however was poor, instant coffee, very basic buffet (bread and a box of cereal) The cups in the breakfast room were filthy, there was a member of staff there she popped her head in and said "if we want a cooked breakfast we could have one" then she disappeared. There were five couples queuing to make toast in a two slice toaster surrounded by flies. Disappointing because the bedroom was so clean, the restaurant the night before was excellent but the whole breakfast experience let it down.

Room Tip: don't stay for breakfast

We found that the town was fully booked, but the helpful staff at the Information Centre found us a very comfortable two-bedroom unit up the hill behind the hotel. It was well equipped and, as it stands alone, was commendably quiet.
We ate good pub food at the hotel bar.
