“Nice, quite retreat.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2013

We chose the Knipoch because we were visiting the Isle of Seil (a must) and because it is dog friendly. We stayed Bed and Breakfast for one night. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The hotel was very quiet but the room was fine, breakfast excellent, service very good and it WAS dog friendly with some nice walks from the hotel. All in all recommended.

We were lucky enough to be invited to a wedding that was held at the Knipoch Hotel this weekend. It was a stunning location, the food was just wonderful and the atmosphere of the house was friendly, comfortable and first class. Very attentive staff (who were mostly family ) a beautiful old building, similar to The Manor House Hotel in Oban but much more spacious and with a view to rival any on the West Coast. First Class. Well Done Knipoch.

I stayed here for my Birthday a few weeks ago. My boyfriend booked a weekend away for us. For me, I don't think it was worth the money. It is very dated, and oddly quiet! The only other guests were OAP's, which I think the hotel is more suited to!

The room was basic, old, in need of refurbishment. The bed was comfortable although we couldnt see the TV from the bed as it was so far away!

We ate in the hotel, in what was a small room with a few tables dotted around the outskirts. The food was majorly overpriced, I wish we had gone somewhere else for dinner. It was quite uncomfortable also as it was so quiet and in a small room with other people, felt rather too intimate.

I wouldnt stay again. It wasnt awful, just wasn't for us.

Good food. Good location - only make sure that you sleep upstairs . The noise that filters down to my room was incredible and very annoying. Any footsteps are magnified as booms. I did call reception and they kindly called the people upstairs to tread softly? Staff were friendly and despite the noise problem I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Avoid room 7. Some rooms have a view of the lake opposite - ask for those

during our trip through scotland we booked this hotel, which is a bit outside of the city.
overlooking the lake, it is a quiet place despite the road next to it (yes double glazing has found its way to scotland).

the countryhouse lounge is an ideal place to sit with a book and one of the 200+ malt scotch/whiskeys.
dinner is a little event in itself,
no rush to your table, you are first parked in the lounge to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail or two,
after which your table is ready in a lovely room

my wife is a vegetarian who suffers from a gluten allergy,
our lucky day: the chef here has a gluten allergy as well and made a wonderful meal,
which was so nice that other guests were a bit jealous of the lovely pie

rooms are big (compare to edinburgh or london and you ll feel like you have 3 rooms)

great place to stay over

Thank you very much for the lovely review. We are all happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. At Knipoch we always ask the guests to let us know about their special requests and dietary requirements, we always try to meet their needs and I am glad that your gluten free vegetarian meal was enjoyable.

As you mentioned we never rush the guest to go to the dining room, the guests are always welcomed to take their time have aperitifs before dinner and cheese from the menu.

We all hope to welcome you back to Knipoch Hotel in near future.

Kind regards,

Maryam

Looking for a hotel in Oban, we arrived in this hotel by chance and were very happy about it. We were very pleased to be there instead of downtown Oban; the location is wonderful, with beautiful views on the loch, nice room and excellent service. Very good dinner. I wish we had stayed even longer
