Booked an overnight stay at this pub as we were off to Castle Combe Circuit the next day. Arrived just before 5pm....it was closed but we found an open door! The landlord met us & dealt swiftly with our booking, showed us to our room & told us the meal times etc. It would be a late-ish breakfast as it was Saturday. (I understand completely) A Lovely twin room as requested. Although the room was overlooking the road there's no traffic.
At about 6m the buzz from downstairs seemed quite loud but just voices - not loud music. Friday night!!!!
We went down for dinner @ about 7pm & the place was packed. Organised a table for dinner & had a drink. The service was prompt & friendly despite the pressure of customers. An excellent meal, served promptly & efficiently.
Full English breakfast in the morning was again, super. Hot food served on hot plates by friendly people.
The room was quirky & creaky but it's on OLD pub. Rooms spotlessly clean.
Would recommend for an overnight stay.

Very traditional pub in the pretty village of Grittledon, we stayed over Easter weekend with our dog.
Nice comfortable rooms and great location. We dined here on the first evening and the food was excellent, all freshly made and much nicer than the usual pub food and not expensive.
Good choice of wine and again not expensive and good hearty cooked breakfast each morning.
Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms are up a short flight of stairs

Stayed here for one night on a weekend mini break to enjoy the good weather and escape London. It surpassed my expectations and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a little country break.

Grittleton is picturesque and beautiful, the inn is opposite the huge Manor House and next to a cute little church - the only things in the village but that is why it is charming! We had a little pre dinner amble and walked the grounds of the manor about a 3min walk away.

Hosts are friendly and obliging. You stand at the pub bar to get your keys and check in and you access the rooms through an entrance in the restaurant. The building is ancient and higgledy piggledy, we were in the attic room up about 4 flights of stairs - so not ideal for the less mobile!

Great atmosphere in the evening with all the friendly locals. We are at the pub and I feel you stay I suggest you do too! The food is INCREDIBLE. The menu is written on the board in the bar and there is a fair selection, I a must a vegetarian and there were options for me (grilled goats cheese with seasonal vegetables yum!). Very, very impressed with the food.

We had the attic room as mentioned which has a double bed and two singles. As we were two we had a choice of beds! Only slight quibble is that the double bed was pretty creaky am deathly uncomfortable. They desperately need a new mattress, my partner got up in the night and went and slept in one of the single beds (no it wasn't my snoring!).

Bathrooms clean and products supplies along with a proper nice big towel - I hate it when you only get a loincloth! Shower is crammed in a corner in that particular room so best to ask for a different one if you're more that 6ft - we could just about manage.

Full English is the option for breakfast along with toast and cereal. The owner made sure I had a tailormade veggie breakfast and supplied ample toast.

A wonderful little place for a night or two and a taste of the English countryside!

Very friendly pub where we were made to feel extremely welcome. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable room, unlimited tea and coffee available in the room. Pub had a great atmosphere with lots of locals and their dogs calling in. Food was fantastic and of a reasonable price. Great breakfast and really friendly staff, couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to others.
