“Nice hotel by the lake”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2012

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. The setting is by the lake and the bar and dining room overlook this. There is a golf course that goes around the lake!!

The staff are friendly and helpful.

My room was good and came complete with tea station and safe for my laptop. The grounds also contain a gym and driving range. Since I had not brought any clubs with me, the lady in Reception kindly loaned me a 7 iron from the cupboard.

There is a choice of evening meals, you can choose a bar meal or be more formal and sit in the dinig room. There is a choice for breakfast and as much as you like.

And if you have enough time there is a spa for you to try.

Only stayed the one night, had a meal in the Waterside Restaurant that was very good, the waitress we had was terrific! She couldn't have been more helpful. Didn't go in the bar so cannot comment on the staff there. Reception staff were very helpful and polite, couldn't have been better. We had a deal that gave us evening meal plus breakfast, which was buffet, but very good and they cooked poached eggs (two actually) when she asked if they had any poached eggs. Rooms where clean, tidy exactly what you would expect. We have already recommended it to friends and we will use it again when we are in the area.

We stayed here recently for 2 nights and found it to be an above average experience. Rooms were comfortable, clean, spacious, and a huge leap up from a Travelodge/Premier Inn, whilst not being a lot more expensive. The room was serviced in a very short timeframe whilst we were out in the morning which suited us perfectly. We ate in the Waterside Restaurant on the Friday night and had an 'okay' experience. We both had the seafood starter which was essentially a deep-fried Crab cake and posh Prawn Cocktail - in 'fine dining' portions. The Sirloin and Duck that we had for mains were both excellent. I did feel that over £70 for 2 starters of average quality, 2 mains, and 4 pints, was a little excessive.
Afterwards we had a few drinks in the bar area which had a very pleasent atmosphere, and was spacious and comfortable.

Overall, a very pleasent stay, although there was a very 'corporate' feeling to it all, not helped by the fact that it is set in the 'Wyboston' complex, consisting of the golf course, leisure facilities, offices, kids play centres etc etc, and is just of the main A road. This did, on the other hand, mean it was very easy to get to - and if you play golf I imagine it is the perfect location! If we got a deal we would certainly go back for a quiet weekend away.

We spent one night at the Wyboston Lakes Executive Suites. The room was very clean, well equipped and quiet and cost £10 less than the nearby 'budget hotel'.
We didn't sample the breakfast but had a delicious and beautifully served evening meal at the Waterside Restaurant just along the road. The restaurant benefits from the view over the lake, very picturesque.

This Restaurant could be top notch
The food in the restaurant is as good as anywhere, it has one rossette, the location overlooking the lake is stunning, on a summer day you would do well to find better. The waiting and bar staff are pretty clueless shame really as some training and supervision would sort it.

Together with 36 guests I have just celebrated my 60th birthday at Wyboston. We had a great time. The arranged private dinner was excellent and even though it was a fairly limited pre-chosen menu, I was really impressed with the quality. Half of my guest stayed for the second night and when Maria (head waitress?) discovered that we wished to eat together, she arranged a small dining room for us off the side of the main restaurant. Again the pre-ordered dinner - this time a la carte - proved to be just as impressive. Only criticism was for the Golf. Whilst the hotel was able to negotiate a good discount on our green fee for Friday, it was not able to influence the Saturday and Sunday green fee of £28. Unfortunately the greens had been hollow tang'd and dressed - a bit early in the season ?- but the weather made up for the poor state of the greens.
Price of drinks was a little steep and they did run out of draughtsbeers (3 types of cask) on Friday night - recovered one cask in 30 mins - but having been disturbed it was not great. The bar stock could have been better managed.
I highly recommend the venue for a weekend in either small or large groups.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as a fairly large group of family and friends. The setting of this hotel is beautiful, overlooking a lake and golf course. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was very good. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Minor problems were very quickly sorted out. Overall I would recommend this hotel.
