We had a very relaxing time at the Errigal. The hotel is 1mile approx from Cootehill town. We were warmly received at reception by Tanya and the rooms were massive. They were very clean and the front rooms had a view of the countryside.
On Saturday night we had bar foor which was delicious. The fish with sidesalad and chips was very tasty and 2 pork chops were well cooked. The bar food is reasonably priced for a hotel of this calibre. Breakfast was ordered and you could choose from a varitey of cooked options and selft service cereals.
Staff were all very pleasant and helpful and would good back to the Errigal sometime again to wind down.
Only thing was there was no shower gel, but we had our own.

I had a really good overnight in the Errigal. We booked B&B in a delux room and also booked in for dinner that evening. The room we had was excellent, really roomy, a very comfortable bed and a very good bathroom. Dinner was very good (although the amuse bouche and palate cleanser was slightly ott for the setting) and the staff were very friendly throughout. There was a good choice for the cooked breakfast also in the morning.

The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and the grounds were really well kept.

A few small things jumped out at me which would improve the guests experience:
1) the beds have blankets as oppose to duvets which personally I dislike
2) When we arrived at reception there was only one person available which meant as the phone rang we were left standing around.
3) The muffins/pasteries for breakfast were poor (croissants very hard and muffins not fresh)
4) The pricing of the food on the menu didn't tally with what arrived on our bill (i.e. there was a set price of €35 for dinner on the menu and the bill priced each item separably. Also the menu advised that there was a supplement for having desert and and supplement for coffee but this didn't materialise on the bill).

I suspect that the hotel are doing their best to stay afloat on a tight budget however the staff work hard and are doing a really good job, I would recommend this hotel for a break if you want to chill out and get away for a few days.

Room Tip: Get a delux room, they a re a lot nicer than the standard rooms!

We stayed in 1 of Errigals suites for 1 night and everything about the stay was excellent. The staff were some of the friendliest we have met and really made us feel welcome. They were more than happy to cater to our every whim. The hotel itself is fresh and modern and we would highly recommend upgrading to a suite as ours was fab, a real treat. Located just outside the town, the hotel was very quiet when we stayed with not much happening, but it was January and we were looking for a relaxing break so this suited us but might not be for everyone. We ate dinner in the restaurant and again the food was lovely, with an excellent selection despite been on an inclusive package. Service again here was very good with our server friendly and chatty. Breakfast the next morning was again lovely with a great choice and friendly staff. While there were some small niggly things like a bulb missing here and there (and no heat in the ensuite?!) Overall our stay was very enjoyable and we will be back!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite 202 is well worth the few extra euro!

To be clear, we have not stayed at the hotel but we have been to the restaurant here several times, especially for birthdays or anniversaries. And to be fair, we have usually ordered the same meal as we think that the steaks here are about the best in the county. Cooked to perfection (not easy to get rare steaks cooked correctly); good starters and side dishes; excellent wine list. Given that Mc Nean's Bistro in Blacklion is one of the best in Europe, we can give this restaurant only four stars for food. But it is close for driving for an annual celebration or two.

Great hotel for a short break with friendly staff, lovely rooms and good food. The location of the is not great if you intend to visit Cootehill as it's a bit to far to walk. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the menu looked excellent. We had a meal in the bar which seemed very popular and the food there was excellent and very good value. We'd recommend the hotel overall with only a small gripe, the porridge for was probably more salty then a fried breakfast would have been, for our taste anyway. Overall for a nice quiet and relaxing break it's a great place to chill out or there are some nice walking trails locally.

We recently went to a event being held in the hotel. I have been to Cootehill many times but this was our first time to stay here. I taught the hotel itself was very nice and the staff were very friendly. The food, both at the bar and the breakfast was very nice and of a high standard.
The rooms where very nice, extremely spacious! I would highly recommend staying here.

We had our wedding here in October 2012. It was just fabulous.
It’s impossible to know where to start in trying to explain all the excellent qualities that the Errigal Country House Hotel has going for it.
The grounds including the gardens are beautifully landscaped and maintained; there isn’t a blade of grass or a leaf out of place, all of which helps make an excellent location for photographs. The large reception area is perfect for greeting your guests on their arrival to the hotel and it is also lovely to relax in the following morning to say good buy as the guests checked out and may I add every one of them had very high praise for the food, the rooms, the staff and everything about the hotel.

The Errigal has everything good about it that is associated with a family run hotel and it is clear to see the Kelly family of Bernie, Pat and their family have a passion about providing a top class service to their customers.

We sat down with Bernie in April 11 to book our wedding and plan out our day. The professionalism of Bernie that day immediately gave us confidence that everything would be perfect on our wedding day. What was agreed in April 11 was carried out in October 12, plus Bernie is brilliant at giving you little tips and advice on how to organise your wedding so that it is less stressful on you and you get to enjoy the day (which absolutely flies).

On the day of the wedding Bernie and all the staff at the Errigal were excellent, everything ran like a well oiled machine, the food was perfect and many of our guests complemented us on it and on our excellent choice of wedding venue. It is clear that Bernie carefully plans and prepares everything, the staff which are employed by the hotel are all truly professional and a special word must go to Tanya at reception who just couldn’t do enough to help us as the bride and groom and all our guests. We wish her well in her future studies; she will make a brilliant teacher but will be a massive loss to the hospitality industry.

If you are booking your wedding here then you will find Bernie is just brilliant, from the first day you meet her until you are walking out the door when it’s all over she will go well beyond to assist you every need.

To all the staff of the Errigal and especially Bernie, we wish you all the best in the future, you will forever have a special place in our thoughts, we will never be able to fully thank you for everything you done for us.

Anthony & Joanne.
