We stayed here for 1 night in September and were the only people booked for the night. The manager and his wife and child were there to open the hotel for us and were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They offered to prepare dinner when ever we want as well as breakfast. The room was fantastic with a view across the fjord/bay of Snaefells peninsular and the farmland in front of the lodge and the bathroom was incredible. The shower was huge and very hot!

Our dinner was three courses and was the best food of our trip. The best in Iceland from what we experienced. The manager, identifiable by tattoos, was also the chef and he's VERY good. We had THE BEST carrot soup and fresh bread followed by the most amazing lamb fillet on parsley risotto with pumpkin seeds and vegetables followed by blueberry ice cream on a rice crispy cake (coated in Nutella) with mascarpone sauce and Icelandic cake. Everything was made from the farm or local ingredients.

This was the best place we stayed in all of Iceland over the 10 days we were here. Highly recommended.

Had an amazing and wonderful time at Vogur Country Lodge. The setting is gorgeous, a complete and wonderful surprise that topped off our trip visiting iceland. Recommend the Vogur Country Lodge for a relaxing and authentic visit to the west islands. The chef at the restaurant is top notch. had two wonderful and delicious dinners. Rooms were clean and had beautiful views of the mountains and islands. And they have the best Viking.

As we drove up the long drive we did not know whst to expect yet were greeted by charming rooms to go along with a charming English waitress at supper. The views are amazing, it's in the middle of nowhere and sitting in the jacuzzi after dinner admiring the view is a must. Overall a good hotel. The best we stayed in on what was otherwise a rather dull trip around Iceland.

We were very nervous driving to this lodge in our small, non-4WD rental car. The road to the lodge is unsealed (gravel road) and long - we were on it at least 30 minutes - and we were concerned about gravel damaging the car. In the end it was fine, and we quickly forgot in any case when we saw just how beautiful a location the lodge is in, with a waterfall just behind. We were greeted by the friendly owner and given a bright, modern, comfortable room looking out towards the sea. Definitely the accommodation highlight of our trip.

We enjoyed two delicious dinners and highly recommend these - we loved the feel of the restaurant (an open lodge type room), the friendly, relaxed and discreet staff, and the food itself, all using fresh, regional produce. We also took a long walk one day, exploring the remote, beautiful nature surrounding the lodge.

Our only criticism was that during our multi-day stay, the room barely seemed to have been cleaned. But this was a detail, and the overall experience was amazing. We would definitely come back.

The Vogur Country Lodge opened fairly recently and is still getting some of the final touches on its building. It is very remote, 1/2 hour's drive along a gravel road from the nearest village, but in a very beautiful location with its own waterfall in back, and very nice and modern facilities. The food was excellent, prepared by professionals with experience in the better hotels in Rekjavik, but our room was not cleaned during our 3-night stay, nor was our table once after we ate there. The lodge serves breakfast and dinner at reasonable extra charges, as well as bag lunches, and the staff are very helpful with ideas about what to do within a reasonable drive. The best experience for me of our entire vacation was a tour, arranged by the chef, of a family farm on the north side of the peninsula where we were able to visit a family church with at 1,000 year history and see how eider down is collected and processed.

Room Tip: We had a wonderful room #16, on the south side of the lodge facing the fjord. It was quiet and roomy.
