“Fantastic Service, Great Home-cooked meals”
Reviewed 28 April 2013

We arrived at Lavers Hill for lunch on a wet and cold day to find this cafe warm and inviting. The two ladies that seemed to run the cafe were welcoming and accommodating to our family. My son, being a fussy eater, was catered for with his choice of hamburger toppings that made him feel special and neither of my children were made to feel like they had to chose off the kids menu. The soup was hearty and inviting and the Devonshire Tea was yummy. We would certainly recommend. It had a lovely garden view where we could watch the parrots coming into the bird feeder and had excellent outdoor seating for a warmer day.

“Sunny day but so cold inside.”
Reviewed 27 April 2013

Stopped on our way to the 12 apostles. Nice enough but it was cold inside. The Vegetable frittata was filling but it was the relish and home made BBQ sauce that were the big hit with us.

“Poor service”

Food is ok but not all served at the same time. Very unfriendly waitress and incorrect order of our coffee with no effort to correct it. All in all an unpleasant experience.

“An adequate, friendly stop off in LH”
Reviewed 11 March 2013

Our first trip here saw us doing breakfast, which is pretty good. However our return visit for lunch over the long weekend was a little disappointing. If you're a burger person, the Angus burger and chicken burgers alike are prefab affairs rather than home/freshly made. The seafood platter is also entirely fried, factory made, so not really worth going for - a shame given the proximity to the sea, but then there are no real fishing communities nearby. I imagine the salads are likely to be better options. The cake selection is good, though as someone who makes scones at home, theirs were disappointingly dry and chewy, rather than moist and crumbly/flaky. Instead, go for the biscuits or other cakes, which are of a better standard. The staff are really lovely, whether or not you swear by their food, and will serve you with warmth and a smile, which is lovely. The location is also very nice, with pretty views from the deck.
