“Unexpected Pleasure”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

We visited this restaurant by accident as our first choice was closed. We arrived a bit early, however, we were greeted with warmth. Clearly, this place is a favorite with locals, who quickly filled most of the tables. We sampled all of the courses and everything was excellent. The only disappointment was that they were out of both lamb and veal. There is no excuse for this in a restaurant featuring the meat dishes of Tuscany. The total cost of the meal was very reasonable.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

The Ristorante Bernadone seems to be known only among insiders until now, hidden in suburb Nocchi of Camaiore without any signboard at the main road. But it is worth going there if you love outstanding Tuscany food for very reasonable prices. You will miss the all-Italian standards on the menue, but what you are going to discover instead is much better: plenty of dishes difficult to find elswhere - with porcino, truffels, wild boar, liver and many other choices. We tried pasta with a sauce of wild boar and Ravioli with pumpkin stuffing in a leek sause, both excellent. The salads were very nice, too, and the apple and pear tart for dessert was not only delicious but enough to feed at least two easily. The selection of wines is magnificient and the whole setting lovely and relaxing. Service is quick, patient and very friendly.
We were very sorry that we had discovered this wonderful place only towards the end of our vacation and are keen to return as soon as possible. Good news for other guests is that the restaurant has lots of space and can cater up to 400 people at special occasions. Therefore, booking ahead is advisable but not really necessary. There is lot of parking space outside, too.

“wonderful food , nice people and the little river....”
Reviewed 4 August 2011

Not easy to find, but if you are around Lucca or on the Tirrenian coast, take the time to go there, you won't be deceived!!
Nice green landscape, a little river, a very peculiar old house that host the Restaurant.
Very typical Tuscany food, and you can easily peep at the wondeful kitchen.
Do not miss the "antipasti", 10 different tapas polenta e fegatini, prosciutto crudo e gnocco fritto, polpettine, etc. ec. all is home made and very tasteful. I love their "caraffa" sparkling rose wine. Wonderful Ravioli, but in fact everything is really great! I couldn't avoid stealing from my friends dishes.....in Italy is allowed :-)
I forgot a great grilled chicken. And do not leave the table without tasting the home made Sorbetto, a light ice cream fruit based. Value for money. I'll be back!
