Stayed at this b & b for a few days, whilst on a short break. Fantastic location, great food and fab staff.

The property was clean and comfortable, and the young owner made us feel very welcome.

Highly recommended .

Enjoyed a night here sitting by the fireplace the stove was roaring! Great locals bar, no pretentions. Food was better than normal pub grub. Lots of TV's scattered around se we enjoyed watching England stuff the All Blacks! Our dog was welcomed in and they kindly brought her some water. We will be back as we love Corbridge but we like to bring the dog with us so, The Angel, The Dyvels, Black Bull etc all miss out on our trade as they dont allow dogs.

We stayed elsewhere (hence the room score), but enjoyed the local atmosphere and fun of the pub quiz at the Golden Lion. The beer and company were good - what more can you ask for?

As another reviewer said, this is a popular pub so there's music and noise from downstairs till quite late. Many (all?) of the rooms face the street and we were woken very early by a large crash, which may have been loading or unloading at the supermarket next door.
The rooms are adequate and clean, but are not special and could do with some refurbishment; the (twin) beds in particular need replacement or new matresses - sagging and with noisy springs.
Breakfast and service were good, but at £70 for a double/twin we felt this was rather overpriced.

Room Tip: Get one away from the road (if there are any)

The village is pretty but this is a noisey pub in the evenings with TV screens in the bar so you can expect music until late and it is packed out if there is a football match on. On those occasions it is also impossible to park in the street and there is no pub car park.
As a brief one night stop over it is okay but I stayed as I was working in the area, from Sunday to Friday and it was totally unsuitable. The shower was cold and there was no blind or net curtain in the bathroom which was overlooked from the bay window opposite. The plumbing was extremely noisey too.
The lady servicing breakfasts in the bar in the morning was very pleasant and efficient but she was not there on the final morning and the service was not as good. The food available is well cooked and there is plenty of it as you might expect from a pub menu. Apart from one evening when I there, I choose to eat elsewhere and there are plenty of other places such as the Black Bull which is popular.
Reasonably priced, nice village, but don't expect undisturbed sleep.

Room Tip: Try to get the room on the second floor

Glad to see nothing has changed. This is a pub remember and should be enjoyed as such.Rooms are very comfortable and considering where it is still great value.Breakfast is very informal and all the better for it.All adds to the friendliness of the place. The owner/manager is a very amiable chap.

Myself and 2 friends had decided to spend a couple of days over in Corbridge to visit the Tynedale Beer Festival and have a few rounds of golf. I had stayed at the Golden Lion 2 years ago and knew the rooms were good. They had not changed. They are clean, ideally furnished for the size of room and competitively priced. You have access to the rooms by a side door without having to go through the middle of the pub. The staff are really friendly, approachable and are prepared to have a chat. The breakfasts are great, of a good size and are cooked there and then. It's an ideal place to stay in and around the Corbridge area.
