Living in village for many years this is first time we have ventured into Cafe House and we only went in after we decided not to go to No. 6 coffee shop after poor service last week. What have we missed .......just the best raspberry scones I,ve ever had !!!! We,ve gone to many other coffee shops in Corbridge over the years and this has be the best. Service was brilliant. This was real find and we'll certainly be back. If in Corbridge on visit give it a try

Thank spender

Fabulous choice of cakes and sweet treats. Didn't have any of the other more substantial food on offer but saw some lovely looking meals on their way out of the kitchen. The raspberry and white chocolate scone was truly amazing.

We had seen this place many times but never been in yet and have sampled 3 other cafes in Corbridge.

On arrival first time round we got told that they were full and it would be around 10 minutes so we went for a look at a shop accross the road then came back and found only one table avaliable which was beside the front door. Probably the worst table in the house but it was OK as the place was kept really warm and most people remember to close the door.

We ordered 2 afternoon teas and you get a choice of scone, 1 sandwiche (cut in 4) and a slice of a choice of cake (which are displaid on the side). We were then told that it would be 20 minutes as they were busy but asked if we would like our tea straight away which we did. There was enough tea for 3 cups each and there were magazines to read so the 20 minutes was fine.

They both came on seperate cake stands. The only down side was that my Tuna wasnt very good, a little bit too much like shop bought and would have been nice with sweetcorn or some salad but thats just my opinon. My wifes cheese and pickle was simple but really nice becasue of the good quality pickle used and good cheese. The scones are the biggest I've seen!!! Just say bigger than a fist. They dont look home made but they are and they are very very good! Served with clotted cream and good quality jam. 10/10 for that. The cakes are really nice. I had a corgette pistacho lemon cake (from Root Cakes Bakery) which was one of the best cakes Ive every had and my wife had a lemon and coconut cake which was nice but found the icing too sweet and the flavour of the sponge was a little bit lost.

There are 2 floors, Id recommend the top floor as its a bit more open but still cosy looking. The service was good and friendly. Only gave 4 stars due to the seat and tuna sandwiche but everything else is brilliant!

On the last morning of a cottage holiday in Corbridge, myself and my wife decided that we would have breakfast out rather than use and then have to clean the kitchen, which we had cleaned only the previous evening.
Our choice of The Cafe House was certainly one of the best decisions of our holiday. Tucked away in Middle Street, it is not in one of the most prominent positions in town but upon entering we were pleased to find a very nice, clean premises along with a friendly welcome. Upon ordering one full breakfast and one breakfast of muffin with bacon and scrambled eggs we waited for a short time, during which time the cafe started to fill up rapidly with locals, before our breakfasts appeared. And what breakfasts they were! The menu described my full breakfast as having locally sourced, crisply cooked bacon, along with local sausage. The reality was even better than the description as I was astounded to find eight perfectly cooked and very crisp rashers of streaky bacon alongside no fewer than five delightfully cooked sausages that could have only been made by a good butcher. These were accompanied by a pile of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs along with the other items that were part of the full breakfast. My wife found a similar delight served, as her order of muffin with bacon and scrambled eggs was piled high with creamy eggs along with six rashers of crisp bacon. With prices for these two fine feasts a very reasonable £6 and £4 respectively, value for money was certainly not an issue.
The waitress was very friendly indeed and we enjoyed a pleasant chat with her on the subject of holidays. The final treat for us was from a mouthwatering selection of cakes on display which were all from a local bakery known as The Cake Root. This wonderful choice of cakes featured various root vegetables as part of their ingredients and, having been unable to resist purchasing a slice or two of parsnip with lime and ginger cake, asked for them to be wrapped so as to keep them fresh on our journey back to the Midlands. This was of no trouble at all to the staff and two neatly wrapped portions of most flavoursome cake were soon to appear, a nice memento of The Cafe House that didn't last long once we returned home!
Payment can be made via chip and pin which is most convenient. WiFi is also available to their customers.
We cannot recommend this little cafe too highly as it really did stand out as part of our holiday experience in the North East.
