We came to stay at Wilmar through a personal recommendation and were thoroughly impressed from the welcome to the farewell. Ian and Marcela are great hosts and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and enable you to have the best trip you can. Ian even helped us track down a replacement tire in Fort William over the Easter weekend!
The location on Loch Harport is great. Within staggering distance of the Talisker Distillery and the local pub which does decent food. Be ready to embrace the weather - we had snow, hail, sunshine and rain in 5 days but as long as you are properly dressed you will be fine.
High spots - sailing over to Raasay and spending the day hiking, the cuillins covered in snow, the fairy pools hike and lunch at the Three Chimneys restaurant. Best of all was the boat trip out to Loch Coruisk. The waters are clear Caribbean green, lots of seals, beautiful hiking around the loch. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. Treat yourself and do this trip.
The scenery is spectacular and very peaceful. There are some great local restaurants and the people are very warm and friendly.
Ian and Marcela know the area well and are very integrated in the local community - we were invited to the village ceilidh while we there but were too tired to go after our day on Raasay. Breakfasts are wonderful and Ian's porridge was the best I have ever had.
