A lot more people are now using the Old Inn since our last visit, all the tables were full during our time there. Although we arrived relatively early (1.30pm), many items on the Specials board were being removed as we sat down. They do sell a good range of local beer, but it's the food that we look forward to the most. Two of the meals we ordered ran our before we could be served.
Still looking forward to returning next year, maybe a bit earlier in the season though ;)

Visiting friends in Skye, went to this hotel for a treat, and it certainly was a treat. The place is clean and well looked afetr, the staff friendly and polite, the food delicious.

Went for lunch after a Talisker tour and it was heaving. Managed to share a table with two very friendly people - it's that sort of place, longish wait for food but worth it when it came. Good choice of beer. Excellent prawns.

We stayed here for one night on our way home from North Uist. The Lochmaddy ferry to Uig was late (again) so we didn't arrive at the Old Inn until 7.30 pm. We went into the bar to check in and the place was already buzzing - a Skye band, Bramax, was expected later. We were shown to our room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Returning to the pub we found it even busier but the friendly, efficient staff found us a table quickly. Now, the Ritz it ain't so if that's your style you probably wouldn't like the Old Inn. However, if you like locally brewed real ale, generous portions of tasty pub food and an electric atmosphere then you'll love it.
Although the bar meals and breakfasts are served in the pub the rooms are in a separate building far enough away that you will not be disturbed by the live music or general pub noise if you want an early night. The menu is compact and biased towards seafood as you might expect on Skye but the old favourites like burgers are represented and when we visited there were another half dozen items on the Specials board. The food is generously portioned and tasty and served up with a smile. The staff are great, coping with the heaving masses quickly and efficiently and always with a quip or joke. Our waitress told us the meaning of the band Bramax's name in Gaelic - I'll leave you to look it up. :)
