Don't ever stay at the Little Poly! I don't want to have to compete for a booking the next time we go there. It is a small, private, quiet, wonderful couple's getaway and it is probably better if I can just keep it all to myself.

There was a slight mix up when we arrive regarding our booking, but the shuttle-bus driver chucked us in the van and said "don't worry. we'll sort it when we get there." ...and they did. That laid-back-we-can-fix-anything-don't-you-worry-one-bit attitude from minute one prevailed for pretty much the entire trip and I must say, everything was amazing.

Our bungalow was a perfect little A-frame slice of Awesome with doors that opened onto a small porch with a covered day bed and some deck chairs. High-sun times are best spent on the day bed, with nice breezes and cold beverages. If you are a tallish person, you can fall off the back porch into the lagoon. If you aren't so tall, or aren't partial to falling, it is a quick jaunt over incredible white sands into calm, crystal-blue waters. Free snorkeling gear and kayaks from the resort is a great way to explore the lagoon that goes about 150 meters out to the reef that surrounds the island.

Inside, a large comfortable bed sits on a raise level with French doors leading out to the sea. It is amazing to wake up and see the ocean right outside your door... The humidity was a bit strong for a desert dweller like myself, but the AC fixed that right up! They do have TV but I was too busy with island life to give it a go.

Behind the bed is a large, open area bath with dual-shower-heads, twin sinks and and an enclosed outdoor back patio with an outdoor shower (don't worry, the neighbors can't see your bum). My partner and I played hide-and-go-seek in the bathroom area for three hours and I never found her. I still don't know where she is...

The service was amazing and the staff incredibly friendly. The continental breakfast (included) had some amazing island-grown fruits and beginning in the afternoons some great sangrias, cocktails and and other imbibes that totally fit the island-getaway motif. We had dinner at the resort only once. The food was very good, with locally-sourced produce and seafood.

All in, this is easily among my Top 5 stays and I highly recommend it! ...but seriously, don't ever go there!

Room Tip: Any of the 10 waterside bungalows are good, from what I could tell. The Garden-side bungalows are d...

We stayed a week at Little Poly in February and were happy with our choice and would likely return and stay here again. The airport greeting was organized and efficient, check-in was good, with a customary welcome drink. We were given Overbeach Aare number 1, which I would highly recommend. Although this unit is at the end of the property, and it is next to an empty lot, we enjoyed its privacy. The beachfront area is beautiful, with the dull roar of the reef's breakwater surf in the distance. Snorkeling right off of this property is very good, although the water turbidity at times can limit how well you can see. (Read about our even more incredible snorkeling in Aitutaki in my other review.) There is also a moderate tidal surge that can pull you, but the area is really quite safe if you are a reasonably good swimmer. There are many sea cukes, but once you get out to deeper water, there are fish to see, plenty of color! Not a single jellyfish or shark (just be wary of stepping on scorpionfish that are not too hard to spot on the sea floor--we saw none in Titikaveka.) Note: I would recommend snorkeling outside of the time when the tide is coming in or out. We thought it was best an hour or so after hightide has passed (usually afternoons?). We also swam out quite a distance to where water depths reached 20 feet or more and there were rays and larger fish. Do not swim out to the reef unless you really know what you're doing. We brought our own snorkel masks and snorkels and the hotel had a good supply of fins (fins are just too large to pack in luggage!). A GoPro camera is a must! The staff was very good about advising about swimming. Outside of swimming, you can just sit on the nearly private beach and get sun, or lie in the water at the edge and relax. And at night, don't forget to lie on the lounges and watch the stars. Billions of them! The room was very nice, although some of the fixtures and furnishings seemed slightly worn. We enjoyed the showers and double sinks and the bed was very good. In Feb, it was pretty warm at night for us, so we slept with the AC on low; with bedside controls, it was good. And, it did not rain once on us the entire week. The housekeeping staff was wonderful, Ketuke and her assistant were always pleasant, polite, and so kind to us. We got whatever we wanted, however we wanted it. The wait staff, Marilyn, and the other lovely young lady from the Philipines, couldn't have been kinder and more helpful. The front desk staff was also great to us, and even gave us a few extra special tokens to bring home as reminders of our stay. We rented a car from Avis, which I highly recommend: "Akateni," a lovely Avis lady, picks you up at Little Poly from just down the way at the Pacific Resort Raro. Driving around Raro is a must. Forget the bus, rent a car. Just be cautious if you're not used to left-hand drive. Always, always, always look in both directions TWICE, before turning or entering different roadways, and especially when turning right. We enjoyed touring the island in search of other food and art and we found art across from the Whaling Center at Mike and Awhita Tavioni's. They work from a small shed with open walls and they created wonderful wood carved canoe paddles which we took home in checked luggage (get multiple small boxes from DHL or other place and telescope them with tape and bubble wrap). Breakfast at Little Poly was great, French Press coffee by the gallon if you want it, great papaya, eggs and bacon, lots of coconut water. We had a couple of dinners at LP, too, and the food was good, but not the best we had on the island (see my other reviews, and also reviews about our hotel and food on Aitutaki on week two). Also about communication to the US or elsewhere by cell or email: we had NO Verizon service at all on the island, but we found a small internet cafe in Avarua, tucked into the back of a U-shaped mall run by a lovely Kiwi lady. That's a lot easier than buying wireless service with quota limits from LP. If you have to call someone, then get set up with the Viber app before you leave the US. Also. one more notable about LP was that the pastry chef made fresh baked gluten free bread for us (a medical requirement for us) and it was the BEST we'd ever tasted anywhere. Unreal. We could not believe how good it was. His method and recipe remain a mystery. They even used it to make French Toast for us. Absolutely unreal. One of many reasons to come back to LP, which we hope to do some day. A very nice setting, albeit pricey, with an attentive staff and comfortable rooms. I doubt that there could be a better place in all of the Cook Islands.

Room Tip: Overbeach Aare Number 1!

Just got back from a very relaxing seven nights at this resort. Fantastic location, had a beach front unit which are great. Staff are super friendly especially the ladies in the cafe and they make great cocktails. Only suggestion is that some maintanance now needs doing. Aside from that, highly recommended.

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon and we spent seven nights at Little Poly. Firstly the staff were all very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and the room (we originally booked the garden room and got upgraded to the beach villa) was amazing. We didn't want to leave and couldn't speak more highly of our time on the Cook Islands, and couldn't be happier with our accommodation.

My new husband and I spent 11 days at the little poly for our honeymoon and it was the best decision we ever made, not only is the hotel beautiful but the staff are friendly, helpful, professional and always up for a chat.
The beach is amazing with great snorkling (the equipment is free to borrow from the resort) and the gardener even makes sure that he rakes the sand and tidy's up the leaves on the shore each morning.
The food at the little poly is divine, I am still thinking about the banana and chocolate wontons that we had for dessert, they were absolutely sensational.
The cocktail list was very long and we spent most afternoons sitting by the pool gazing over the ocean as we enjoyed just a few!
If you are going to the cook islands which is a beaitiful part of the world your holiday will definetly be complete if u choose to stay at the little poly.

We landed in heaven here. Infinity pool, overlooking crystal clear turquoise water. Palm trees, coral beaches, turtles....just visit the Cook Islands!! Outside and inside showers, private beach - sunset with gin and tonic on the beach. Five days here was perfect and we loved the road - one around the island with a Clockwise and Anti Clockwise bus! The staff get five stars - I got stung by a hornet and they were so caring, and I needed a prescription and they drove me instantly to the pharmacy. Nothing was too much trouble - do stay here.

Room Tip: Book a room overlooking the beach.

We’ve just returned from our first trip, but definitely not our last, to the Cook Islands. We chose to stay at the Little Polynesian Resort based on previous Trip Adviser reviews, and were not disappointed. Sam and his team were fantastic. Our beachfront bungalow provided a beautiful coconut tree framed view of the crystal clear lagoon and reef which surrounds the island. We enjoyed dinner on the beach, snorkeled directly out the front of our bungalow, kayaked and standup paddle boarded pretty much every day. It was an experience we will not forget, and will definitely be back, next time with friends.

Room Tip: The beachfront bungalows add to the experience.
