“A little piece of paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2014

My partner had always wanted to visit one of the Pacific Islands and Cook Islands is truly gorgeous. Based on TA reviews, we booked Sea Change and chose to spoil ourselves and stayed in one of the beachfront villas - could not get enough of the amazing water views! Beverly and Craig were such wonderful hosts making sure everything was ok, and Christina was great in organising our activities. Nothing was too much trouble. Villa was stunning and just like the photos (while not Sea Change's fault, the only disappointment was, being there in August, the private pool was a bit too chilly to enjoy). The free bikes were so handy to explore the area - particularly going to snorkel at the fruits, as were the kayaks. The beach is beautiful - enough said. Beverly's hints and tips on where to eat and drink were so valuable - we were luckily saw a whale cruising by on sunset while sipping cocktails! Partner went fishing with Brendon and you couldn't wipe the smile off his face for the rest of the trip after catching a wahoo and tuna. Overall, it was a trip of a lifetime to a piece of paradise!

We were a bit unsure what to expect, and we were very pleased with the accommodation and the location. Beverley, Craig and Christina were so helpful with the tours that we decided to take and offered to help us in any way we required, organising the tours, transport etc. We loved the island life, the residents were very friendly, always smiling and appeared to enjoy every aspect of their island home. We hired a scooter and found this to be the best way of getting around. We wanted a holiday without all the tourist hustle and rush, we found ourselves really relaxing and enjoying ourselves. Rarotonga would have to be the most beautiful island we have ever visited, Sea Change villa 4, our best accommodation yet, and the friendly people of the island a pleasure to have met.

We decided to book the Sea Change Villa's to stay for my hubbys 30th birthday getaway AND it was WELL WORTH IT, from our arrival on the island it was so easy & extremely friendly, the service was amazing from the shuttle service, fresh flowered lays, airconditioned ride & glass of bubbles was very special & the driver was very imformative about the island as we drove the 20mins to the Sea Change, the driver dropped us off at our Villa aswell as going to check us in and get our keys for us, cannot believe how lovely the people are ;). We had Villa 1 the Beachfront Villa, and i wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else, it was what i had imagined and more! right on the beach, possibly the best view out of the 3 beachfront villas! From who i spoke to and other accomodations we saw on the Island the Sea Change are definitely one of the if not THE NICEST place to stay by far. You pay for what you get after all. Our villa was immaculate, very clean with a hint of island style, the huge bed with posts and mosquito net surrounding for overnight is amazing and makes you feel like your really in the tropics, aircon a must and such a luxury, all the windows have mosquito nets too so perfect to leave open overnight. Daily except Sundays the rooms are cleaned & replenished, Loveliest touch is arriving and having milk, bread, eggs already in your kitchen so no matter the time you get in you don't have to rush out straight away to get anything. Beverley is just SPECTACULAR! Lovely lady so helpful and kind, Christina too, they make everything so easy, its just great to go on holiday and have people make it even more relaxing ;) There are bikes (free) , scooters (20per day) & kayaks (free) for use from Sea Change, everything you need is there, even dining! We had the picnic platter with our Romance package and there was so much delicious food! I HIGHLY would reccommend the Sunset bbq which the Sea Change arrange and have a chef come into your villa, cook an absolutely scrumcious feast, serve you & clean up, we had ours on our beachfront balcony and it was too delicious, the pudding was to die for! Because there are so many eateries on the island it was nice to stay private in our Villa for the night, the chef is so amazing he cleans up everything and packs the leftovers in the fridge for the next day! Really well worth it, the tuna was my favourite!!! and the homemade garlic bread yummmmmmmmmmmm. The Villas are only about 20mins from the city, 45min round trip of the island, an absolute MUST would be Coco Latte Cafe, its a 2min drive or 10min bike ride to the lil cafe which does make the BEST fresh coconut milkshakes on the island! Soooo good on those hot days, the mini supermarket is across the road too, so close to the Villa's, and the supermarkets had more than i expected them too, fruit is cheap as chips compared to NZ, and other items may have been only 3-4 dollars more than at home, not too crazy. Vaima's restaurant do pick ups from the Villa's so you can go enjoy really celebrate with as many pina coladas as you want! if you sit out on the beach tables if mozzies love you make sure to spray repellent. the beef wellington was absolutely amazing something you'd expect to find in a city restaurant so yum. Our favourite attraction would be either the Koka Lagoon glass bottom boat cruise - boys were hilarious really lovely, and the lunch bbq fish feast delicious, hubby doesn't eat fish!!! but they have other options, really catering. Pa's trek was a sure hike! we are quite active and fit, but after all the food the hike was just what we needed haha, repellent a MUST by the waterfall, good runners, listen to Pa's instructions as there is a lot of uphill and climing up branches etc, not for the faint hearted ;) but well worth it for a challenge and to work off some of those pina coladas! Was lovely to be around so much nature, away from busy cities wher we live. Read the information book in your villa its really helpful in understanding the island ways and the normality of the island, so you don't get too shocked when you see all the dogs running round the island, the dogs are the only traffic lights on the island haha, they're mostly friendly, gorgeous things, if your up early enough you might see a few playing on the beach together outside the villa's. I love dogs so i really thought they were neat ;) living their own lives, so much better than being chained up. OK so to sum it up an A+++++++ i will be honest i have very high expectations and for an Island getaway this was PERFECT, if you don't stay at the Sea Change you may regret it!, you only live once do it ;)! It was perfect and private not to mention the private pool per villa, a real treat. LOVED it, should i stop now i could go on ;D. HUGE Thanks to Belinda & Christina we would definitely come back! xxx

Room Tip: Villa 1 or 2 best views, paying that little extra well worth it if your spending good amount of time...

Spent 6 nights at Sea Change on the 1st leg of our honeymoon. Relaxation is what we sought, relaxation is what we received.

Stayed in villa 2 (a beachfront villa) which was worth the extra cost and, we felt, was the villa with the best views.... Just a few small steps from the balcony to the beach.

The villa was extremely spacious with all necessary amenities and the four post bed was very comfortable. Private pool was a luxury!

Food and beverages supplied in the fridge were plentiful and a lovely touch.

The airport transfer was great (especially as we arrived at midnight). Staff, in particular Beverley and Christina, were more than helpful and provided many insights into the local attractions and places to visit.

Sunset BBQ was worth the extra cost and snorkeling at fruits of Raratonga is a must!

If you're looking for places to eat make sure you visit Moorings (try the mahi mahi and tuna salads) and Vaima (try the Beef Wellington).

My Wife strongly recommends visiting foodland in town for the best valued ice cream scoops.

During our stay, we managed to drop in to a number of the other hotels and resorts on the Island, from what we saw (in our opinion) nothing came close to the quality and senerity of Sea Change villas.

Thank you for making our honeymoon a memorable one. We hope to see you again in the near future.

We just loved our time in Rarotonga and at Sea Change Villas. We had fairly high expectations, but our time exceeded all of those. Beverley, Craig and Christina where so helpful and friendly, with just the right amount of 'being available' and leaving you to your own privacy. We stayed in Villa number 4 and loved our view of the lagoon through the beautiful garden. Sea Change Villas was the perfect place for us to stay - celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and our first time of being away from our little kiddes for a length of time. We just loved the privacy of the Villas, the private pool and quiet beach (which was great for snorkelling). Probably the only thing I found slightly disagreeable, was the odour of the sand etc on the beach. I found that I didn't enjoy laying in the sun on it, as it had an unpleasant smell. I am guessing because of the coral?? But there are plenty of places to enjoy relaxing in the sun that this was not a big problem. :)
Absolutely we would recommend this to anyone contemplating staying here. You will not be disappointed!

Stayed at Sea Change for 7 nights , Villa 9, in January 2014. Myself, my wife and my 18 year old son. The transfer service at our arrival at Rarotonga was rather good with champagne and water served on arrival before the 20 minute drive to Sea Change. We arrived on a Sunday and we quickly found out that the reception was closed on a Sunday ( the office actually closes on Saturday at noon). We found the accommodation spacious and very comfortable and Bev, the owner, had arranged for a start up pack of groceries made up of milk, juices, bread, wine, beer, cereal etc. As it was Sunday we did utilise the emergency number to buy some internet time ($40 for 200Mb download which is rather steep in price given the incredibly slow download speed, which is a common problem in the Cook Islands). Bev and her husband Craig live just in front of the 3 large villas. We had two large bedrooms, two large bathrooms, good showers, a nice kitchen, which we hardly used, a living room with satellite TV (out of Fiji so the signal sometimes simply disappears) and a large balcony looking towards the beach which is across the main road and probably 80 meters away. The bottom floor contained a large room where we played darts and a garage containing a weights set and a table tennis table where we enjoyed countless games. At the back of the property a large verandah and a nice pool. All good until now. We did ask some quick questions regarding where to go and eat somewhere that night and we found some suggestions in the nicely appointed book we found in the room. On the positive side nothing really wrong with the accommodation, however the presence of little tiny ants everywhere was very annoying. Furthermore we had several cockroaches in the house making an appearance, especially late at night and on the lower floor and in the last couple of days my son spotted a mouse in the kitchen. To their credit, the owners acted very quickly and the mouse was caught the day after, however, I must be honest in saying I wasn't overly impressed with this kind of event taking place. I understand it's a tropical island and a mostly rural setting but there are limits to what is acceptable. The two most annoying things apart from the above were the ferocious mosquitos which seemed to be everywhere at all times and the roosters which seemed to be noisy all day long. Having been in places like Tahiti, Fiji, Hawaii and the Maldives, I found the beach at the from of Sea Change just OK. There are probably better spots around the island. Christina in the reception was fantastic in helping us out with booking etc. We hired a car for the week and we found this essential in order to quickly get around. The property also has bikes and scooters ($20 per day) which are great to get around. Air conditioning in the bedrooms is brilliant but one more unit in the main living room would be a good idea given the high humidity we experienced. The pool in the afternoon is fantastic. There are several ways to get groceries, snacks if needed....one convenience store around 3Km west and around 5 minutes drive to Muri Beach. My son was actually a bit bored..., perhaps just a teenager thing, so the expensive internet was a way to keep him occupied. In reality any Telecom shop offers internet at $6 per 30 minutes which is reasonable. We found the Vaima Restaurant and the Windjammer Restaurant/Il Veliero the best two although I must say the Vaima is way overpriced for what it offers (subject to separate reviews). In essence a pretty good experience in Rarotonga, despite some of the more annoying aspects explained above.....In my opinion pretty good for a family vacation.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was fantastic. Great secluded location, wonderfully professional and friendly staff. The ability to use the bikes and the sea kayaks was great, and the bed was one of the best we've ever slept in.

Room Tip: Beach front properties are the best.
