We stayed in a three bedroom lodge for a week in January. We know this is off season and from a tourist perspective - quite a lot of attractions are closed, which is why we choose the hotel lodges and to stay somewhere well reviewed.

The views over the Loch are stunning. The lodges are very well equipped and the decor is lovely and obviously recently modernised. There are a few tell tale signs of age, the pine doors and the lobby area but ,mainly they have been renovated well and the beds are really comfy. Cameron House itself had great food and service and a superb spa, golf course and kids facilities. The Great Scot bar has breathtaking views from the windows and great cocktails.

We had a few minor things that niggled. Despite pre-authroising £200 spend on credit card, we kept being asked to pay up front in hotel restaurants because the front desk hadn't updated the system - it tool three days to rectify. The TV went off a few times in the lodges and when we rang lodge services we were told it was because they were doing work in the lodge next door and once they'd finished it would work again. It did about an hour later - but a bit annoying. Two of the restaurants (Martin Wishart, which had wanted to try and The Carrick - were closed due to being off-season, which we weren't told at time of booking). Also, we tried three times to book babysitting, so we could eat in the hotel restaurant with friends one night and only got a call back and the sitting booked when we hassled them.

Overall they were minor annoyances in a very enjoyable stay but we did feel that the service was not quite the 5 star luxury experience we would expect. I would stay here again in the future but maybe in high season!

Room Tip: Ask for a loch view lodge

Having booked into Cameron house hotel for a surprise 60th birthday for my husband with family & friends I can only say that the service, ambiance, venue, surroundings, rooms, facilities & restaurants at Cameron House were absolutely faultless. For the moment of arrival to departure everything was perfect. We had our two grandchildren attending the party and at no point did this prove to be an issue (our grandchildren are impeccably behaved but unfortunately the British on a whole seem to have an issue with children playing & being children) Given that Cameron house is a 5* hotel I was worried that it maybe an issue with other guests ... This couldn't have been more from what we experienced. Having stayed in many 5* and above hotels throughout the world there are definitely hotels of this standard that I would not take our grandchildren. So much so that we are in the process of rebooking a return stay.

Have nothing to complain about. Facilities were brilliant. View was excellent. Car park facility provided was very good. Staff was very friendly and even checked us in early. Very scenic and pretty. Would definitely visit again and recommend for a quiet getaway or a romantic venue. Only bit i could complain was the time it took to get seated and served for breakfast but the meal itself was excellent.

Room Tip: Maybe better off going early for breakfast.

We stayed at the Mansion house for 3 nights the weekend before Christmas, what a big disappointment!!!
No Wifi!!!
Picture on television was snowy!!
Only 3 Channels!!
Very disappointing, we thought we were going to "State of the Art" but everything was a "State"!!
When we booked our granddaughter into the beauty bar for "glitter fingers and toes" it took us about 30mins at the spa to pay for it, as the staff were not sure if we could put it on our account!!?
I also tried to buy some pool games for our granddaughters and they didn't have a price for them?? Another 25 minute wait till they found the price!?
I should also mention that they charge for all electricity used during your stay?!!!
We only had toiletries in 1 of the bathrooms?!! We had to phone and have extra delivered to us? WHY!!!
Only good thing about the Carrick was the "Claret Jug" where we enjoyed a lovely Sunday Lunch which was fresh and tasty and,, kids eat free with 2 adults!!
We certainly will not be rushing back!!

The lodges are really well fitted out and are indeed of a very high standard, however they are a nightmare to heat with a few electric radiators scattered about we only really started to feel warm on the 3rd day. The bathroom however never got warm and was really unpleasant, gave my boys a good excuse why not to get showered!!!

I agree with other reviews re bar service and wifi etc. That was our experience too and not really what you expect from a hotel of this standing or price. Perhaps one of the most disappointing things was 8 out of 10 staff really had no time for you, I got the impression they were totally fed up and struck me as tired and too busy.

Sadly don't think we will return.
