This hotel is up there with the best of them. We have stayed in Gleneagles and found the atmosphere in the Cameron House hotel far less stuffy, but very similar in price.

We stayed for one night on Dinner, Bed & Breakfast Package. Within 5 minutes of arriving in the room we received a call from reception asking if everything was Ok with the room, we noticed that there was no milk nor Breakfast Tea, so told the receptionist and they were delivered within minutes, very good service.
Hotel is very nice with mostly Scottish Staff who are very friendly.
We ate in the Grill Bar Restaurant and found the food to be excellent and a great choice.
I am not a smoker but one area of improvement is that there should be a dedicated smoking area for smokers. I found it off putting walking to the Main Font Door and being met by about 15 smokers standing outside the Main Front Door (Conference Delegates on a smoke break), this does not give a good first impression.

First visit so we decided to stay for one night to see what it was like. Wife and I had booked a one night Dinner, B&B deal with a treatment each at the Carrick Spa and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. From check in to check out all of the staff we came across were very polite and attentive - a very big plus in my eyes so congrats to the management on the quality of staff and the training provided.

I didn't realise that the Carrick Spa was a couple of miles away from the hotel and whilst we decided to use our own transport it was good to see that the hotel operated a free shuttle bus. The Carrick Spa is a lovely, modern building - for starters we enjoyed a really nice coffee in the Claret Jug - and the treatment session was certainly an enjoyable and relaxing experience.
At night we ate at the Boat House - nice surroundings, decent selection on the menu and good quality fare. To finish off the night we had a few drinks in the main bar - sitting next to the roaring log fire with a quality dram - nectar!
The only grumbles we had...we stayed in one of the ground floor loch view rooms (Room 31) and the room above us must have had the creakiest floorboards I've ever come across. My wife's a light sleeper so this didn't go down too well. I mentioned this on check out and it was really pleasing to hear that this would be looked at. Lastly...at breakfast I picked up two plates for the hot buffet and both plates had varying degrees of dried on food on them. Not what I'd expect from a 5* hotel - but hey ho...these things can happen even in the best of hotels.

Would I go back? Definitely. All in all this is a quality hotel, the staff are very welcoming and attentive, the location is spot on the hotel is clearly of a 5* standard. We'll be back for a longer stay...

Go every year to the lodges at The Carrick Loch Lomond, decor within the lodge is excellent and couldn't ask for anything else. The spa is fantastic and an added bonus as access included within the price of the lodge whereas if you are staying at Cameron House have to pay to use spa. Children are made welcome and plenty of everyone to do.

My family stayed three nights at the Cameron House hotel in two of the 'Chambre Unique' loch-view rooms. The hotel is a short drive from Glasgow, making it easy to get to yet it is well suited to exploring the surrounding areas, as many scenic towns are easily within driving distance. It was my second stay at the property, and I'm pleased to say it has maintained a high standard. Our tastefully tartan-decorated were well-equipped (including an espresso machine!). Strong WiFi throughout the hotel makes doing work (if you must) possible at the hotel, which isn't always the case when you get farther north in Scotland. Keep in mind this is a fairly big hotel, not the sort of small castle hotel you might find. This was particularly apparent during our stay as the hotel was heavily booked, meaning we had to ensure we had reservations for dinner each night. What you trade for the charm of a smaller castle you gain in amenities, as there are four (?) restaurants associated with the hotel and a spa; the ones which we tried were all excellent in service and cuisine. During my previous stay there was a dedicated whisky bar; this seems to have been closed and now the Great Scots Bar has the selection of 200 or so malts previously on offer. Planned activities are easily arranged through the hotel staff, or it's great just to wander along the loch. Though we did not make use of it, there is an elaborate pool with a waterslide as well! The hotel seems well suited for either couples or families with kids, an usual combination. I'd suggest groups with elderly guests request rooms that are closer to the reception, as some rooms can require a fair bit of walking. Generally an inviting property that is convenient to Glasgow and the southwestern islands of Scotland.

This was very good.
Cameron House sits in a stunning location on the banks of Loch Lomond. The entrance hall to the hotel s a bit dour and glum with bad (almost non-existent) lighting which I think is a huge mistake.
It is not clear what to do with your car when you arrive [You drive it to the front of the hotel and a man wearing plus-fours, brogues and a waist-coat will park it for you in a car-park adjacent to the hotel, which guests don't have any access to, for no good reason other than they are looking for a tip].
But the hotel staff were really helpful and our dinner in the Martin Wishart Michelin star restaurant was really pretty fantastic. We had a truly delightful dinner.
The staff at the breakfast were a bit slow, and negligent. Not up to standard at all. There were no plates available for the cooked breakfast. Had to ask twice and wait 5 minutes which is really not acceptable when paying a top dollar price. We had finished our buffet breakfast before being offered tea or coffee. The people at the next table had ordered some toast and had to ask twice when it was coming.
This would have scored higher if decent lighting in the reception area, and proper service at breakfast. The evening meal was exceptional and the location superb.

We always find it difficult to find somewhere to stay where our young children are accommodated. This is the first UK based hotel that I can truly say is spectacular in going more than the extra mile for children. It is clear from the warm smiles we receive that children are clearly welcome and the children have enjoyed this stay more than any other. The location is beautiful, menus are child (and adult!) friendly, activities on offer suit all the family. We will be sad to leave tomorrow however we have no doubt we will be back.

What a fantastic setting but who designed the interior of this hotel?? It is soooo dark it doesn't reflect the lovely setting of the loch at all. Our room was like a funeral parlour dark walls the lighting was poor, we had to ask for another standard lamp which still wasn't enough to give a nice atmosphere to the room. Even the light shades are dark which is pointless.
We ate in the boathouse, we have been before it has a nice atmosphere lovely and bright. The staff have dreadful t-shirts on so it was hard to know who was working and who was a guest, this was partly due to 3 members of staff walking passed us with no greeting set all. The meal was 'ok' overpriced as usual. The service was as good as the mcdonalds in balloch. Overall I would say go to the duck bay, a much better menu and professional staff not young kids serving.
