“Another fabulous visit!”
Reviewed 14 December 2013 via mobile

We returned for our fifth visit to Cameron house this December. We were really pleased to receive a room upgrade to a beautiful and very spacious suite.
We had room Service breakfast on day one to take advantage of the large glass table in the room and to have a lazy morning! It was delicious.
Our meal in the grill was so so which surprised me as every other time we've visited it's been delicious.. maybe my expectations were never going to be realistically met! My partner enjoyed his Sunday roast but was disappointed by the lack of gravy, which was easily fixed however my steak, ordered medium rare arrived well done.. we also felt like some areas of the restaurant needed a dust.
We couldnt fault the staff or customer service, and as you can see from my 5/5 these slight issues were not enough to stop us already looking forward to next years visit!

I stayed at Cameron House recently with a friend and could not fault any part of the stay, it was excellent from start to finish.
We enjoyed a great day at the Carrick Spa, with lovely facilities, treatment and lunch in the Spa. Our dinner in the Cameron Grill at night was exceptional and we stayed in a beautiful room, one of the Colquhoun Suites. The room was comfortable, spacious and well equipped - the stunning view across the Loch was a great bonus!
The staff from reception, spa and particularly in the Grill were a credit to the team, they were very knowledgeable, happy to help and always greeted you with a smile.
I would definitely recommend a stay at Cameron House to others and hope to return again in the very near future.

My daughter and I stayed at the hotel for three nights in Nov, from the time we checked in to the time we left, the staff were fantastic nothing was to much bother for them, we had to change room but it sutied me better with a walk in shower, Darren on reception went the extra mile to help and I could not praise him enough thank you Darren you gave a five star servis at all times, I would also like to mention Alan on concierge who was also very helpfull and always cheerfull, to the manager of this hotel I hope you are paying your staff well as they all deserve it as I said five star service, I will be coming back in the future to your hotel and look forward to it. Keep up the good work.

Stayed here last weekend for husbands birthday. not the best experience from booking to check out, but after a chat with the manager, acceptable compensation was given.
in short, booked a family room for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant. Emailed them to ensure cot available, and they wanted to charge me for this. checked in after official check in time, room not ready. Rude unhelpful members of staff, quite a wait for table at breakfast and slow to replenish food platters, terrible check out with long queues and long wait to get car - they take car away on arrival, keep keys and bring it to the door on your departure!
on the upside we ate at the Boathouse restaurant. Food lovely, huge portions, but service quite slow, but that's maybe just my opinion as a mum with 2 lively young children to entertain, prob ok if in as a couple looking for a relaxing sit!
Hotel itself clean, evidence around of needing touch up here and there. Decor very dark, wood panels and lots of brown, and dim lights, again a matter of personal taste!
We would consider going again if we got a good deal but not at this time of year, I think the whole Christmas thing contributed to them being so busy,
Oh and beware they do swimming lessons, although there are 2 pools, they close off the shallower 1 with the flume for these, so just check with staff so you are not disappointed!

Stayed one night, location good, room was lovely however there was dust in the room! Staff where all very friendly, however the service in the bar was slow and it was not busy. The decor in the hotel was good a bit dark, however it is an old hotel. The facilities are good and met are expetactions. We both enjoyed our experance here.

Stayed at Cameron house last Winter and it was truly wonderful. We got a King room with a balcony which to our luck had the best view over †he loch and snow covered grounds! Perfect timing.

The bedroom was one of the nicest I have stayed in and would definitely recommend going for the extra space. We even had a small golf putting set for the room!

The bar was lovely and cosy and a good spot for watching the snow fall outside and the staff were very attending.

We did not go to the Carrick spa, however when we return this coming January this is top priority!

Just returned from an overnight stay in a Chambre Unique room, the room was lovely. There were sweets in our room on arrival, saying Happy Birthday (was my husbands birthday and this was only mentioned once in a phone call to book dinner a few weeks prior to going, and only because the girl asked if it was a special occasion). We had drinks in the drawing room, as unfortunately the Great Scots bar was closed due to setting up of a Christmas fayre, was a pleasant place to sit, but limited choice of drinks there. Then had dinner at the grill, the food was really good, the service was ok, despite getting charged the full amount, they hadn't deducted the £70 al la carte allowance, but this was rectified and refunded once pointed out. Then to the bar, half of which was now closed due to packing away said christmas market, so we sat at the bar on stools instead of the nice couches, but the service in there made up for that. The reason this isn't a five star review is mainly down to breakfast, the service was terrible. Same as everyone else seems to be saying on here, they take your tea/coffee and toast order and then never seem to return with it. We asked twice, then got told the slip of paper had been 'lost' in the kitchen, which would have been ok, but then still no sign of it after a further 15 minutes. We gave up and left. Then on check out our bill showed a random charge for drinks that weren't ours, we were paying as we went, once pointed out the charge was removed. Wasn't as special an experience as had hoped it would be, especially for the price, don't get me wrong, the setting is fabulous, unfortunately the service lets it down. It's beyond me why so many people are pointing out the breakfast service is terrible, yet Cameron House aren't doing anything to sort this out...
