“One of the nicest places I have ever stayed.”

From the moment we arrived, the De Vere Cameron House was a delight. A warm welcome, easy check in, manicured grounds and spotless hotel inside - just amazing. It was a bit pricey but worth every penny. The pool is enormous, with hot tub and all of the amenities, and huge floor to ceiling glass windows looking over the lawn and Loch Lomond. The dinner was amazing and plentiful as well - our teenage sons were replete. The hotel rooms were very luxurious, with robes, lit closets, a safe, tea and coffee service in the room, really quite amazing. The setting is delightful. It is a popular spot for weddings and I can see why - very close to opulence. Despite the cost, if you are looking for a dip into luxury close to Glasgow - this should be at or near the top of your list.

Room Tip: The entire hotel is in a quiet location, our party of 9 had 5 rooms and none were a disappointment...

Up for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow we stayed here for a long weekend. The lodges are well equiped and well maintained, usually so in my experience. The weather was not good lots of rain and low cloud. The location is good for Glasgow, 45 minutes to the city centre. The general ambience is one peace and tranquility. We ate in both the Boat House and the hotel. Neither were cheap but were generally of reasonable quality though we did have some major disappointments which should have been avoided in an establishment of this supposed quality/price bracket. Service levels were patchy. Taxis booked for an early morning trip to the airport didn't turn up or weren't booked. it happened twice to various members of the party. Be warned concierge services are not efficient and they don't seem to know how to use the telephone system. I was left hanging for over 5 minutes and then cut off on one occasion. If you are staying in the lodges and self catering, be warned there is a scarcity of food shops nearby. A car is essential. A big warning is the lack of a working WiFi and non existant mobile signal. If you need to work forget it!

Room Tip: Make sure you have a car you will need it to get anywhere, lodge to restaurants etc.

The location is beautiful and the hotel itself is stunning. However it is easily the worst managed hotel I have ever stayed in. The service is shocking. Long queues for breakfast; service in the beautiful 'Great Scots' bar is glacial and they even charge extra to use the little crazy golf course! The showers are a real and serious safety hazard - the temperature is uncontrollable and I suffered severe scalding. The manager didn't want to know. The boat house restaurant in lovely, but shockingly run with atrocious service and staff completely lacking in initiative. A change in senior management could make this a perfect hotel but as it stands it is little better then Fawlty Towers on Loch Lomond.

Room Tip: Demand that the shower is safety checked before you use it or you could be very badly injured.

We recently stayed for a long weekend at the Cameron House Hotel on Loch Lomond and it was all and more than we expected it to be. Beautiful clean rooms with opulent furnishings and service that I believe is second to none. The staff were obviously trained to the highest standards and couldn't do enough for you. What really got to me was that they all seemed to be proud to be working at the hotel and I never saw a staff member without a smile. We had meals in the main restaurant and in the Boat House. The food was of the highest quality in both restaurants with an excellent choice of main dishes so there was plenty of choice even for the more picky clientele. The hotel grounds were beautifully manicured with plenty of walks along the Loch. The swimming pool area is large and good for both adults and children. The hotel is definitely at the top end of the market and as such the prices reflect this. I believe that what you pay for is what you get. We were certainly most impressed with everything about this hotel and will most definitely be staying again.

We have stayed here a few times and it is one of the best places we have ever stayed. The decor is nice and cosy with lovely fires dotted around the building. The rooms are tremendous so comfortable and clean. The gym is fine if you fancy a workout although it has it's busy times.
The buffet breakfast has all you could ask for, it is topped up regularly and the food is always fresh. The pool is good fun although the kids part could do with being slightly warmer as our two year old ended up getting cold and had to get out. If you head to the spa you will have a great relaxing time especially if you leave the kids behind. On a final note you won't get a better view in the world.

Visited Cameron House for weekend with husband and sons. On arrival were greeted at door by very friendly courteous staff. Decor inside hotel is very dark. Rooms were of a good standard and clean. Had dinner on first night in The Boathouse, very good and excellent service. Breakfast both mornings a bit shambolic, dirty tables and a long wait for tea and toast. However food was good and plenty of choice. Service in Great Scot bar not up to scratch. Again a very long wait to have order taken at a dirty table which was eventually cleared but I had to ask for it to be wiped before our food arrived. All in all a bit disappointed, for a hotel of this calibre and cost would expect a much better standard of service.

Located on the side of Loch Lomond this venue has some fabulous views over the Loch and is situated in lovely grounds. As there were four of us we took one of the lodges next to the marina as it seemed to offer good value for a 5 star styled week away. The weather was lovely on our arrival which probably accounts for the large numbers of guests at the marina restaurant who assumably had visited for Sunday lunch. We did manage to find a table which we had to clear ourselves in order to be seated and that was the first sign of things not being quite right. Noticing how much of the meals had been left by the group next to us and following a conversation with them we decided to stick to drinks only and go elsewhere for our lunch. I wish I could say things improved over the week but they didn't and for the prices being charged we felt disappointed. Rather than run through all of the little niggles that added to our disappointment suffice it to say it would not be high on our list of "must return" places to stay. Service levels would have to improve significantly to entice us back but they seem to have lots of visitors so maybe our expectations were just too high at the outset.

Room Tip: Choose a Loch view it is by far the best attribute to this property.
