“Superb location”
Reviewed 17 August 2013

My wife and I stayed for a week in July 2013. It is an excellent establishment which has made the most of its superb location. The accommodation is in attractive wooden chalets set in the trees around the main building. Given the nature of the place, the bedroom and bathroom facilities are above average, though obviously not top hotel standard.
The central site is, however, first rate, with excellent food (we are vegetarians) and a good bar, plus various entertainment facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The views from the hotel are simply stunning. There is a good walk down to a light house and a little beach on Saguenay fjord itself. There is swimming in a lake not far away. There is plenty to do and see in the general area, the best perhaps being whale-watching off Tadoussac.
The only real downside is that the Pourvoirie is at the end of a long dirt track. However one soon gets used to it and the drive adds to the sense of "getting away from it all". The owners seem to take seriously their environmental responsibilities.
We strongly recommend this establishment and not just for a weekend break. It is not cheap but reasonable value given the quality of the whole experience.

Room Tip: It is worth paying for a room with a balcony and view of the fjord. It is better to have dinner at t...

Everything will happen like in the review you red already! its a beautiful place, the view is fantastic but the road to get there is a bit annoying and you can hear everything that is going on in your neighbours room... But, honestly, we thought that knowing that in advance, made our stay a lot better than if it would have been a surprise.

The walking trails are great but we thought that the one to go all the way down to the lighthouse was a lot more difficult than expected. Bring snacks for energy and water and you should be fine. And don't forget to follow the orange marker on your way back. We got a little bit lost at some point.

Definetly a good value for the price we got on a discount web site.

Room Tip: Dont expect a very good view on the fjord even if you pay for it... unless you pay for the room gran...

We stayed there two nights and were really amazed by the beauty of the site. And that is unfortunately all you can be amazed by. The real issue is total lack of management of the site. On the one hand buildings are obviously degradating fast without a single investment. Worth than that the entire staff consist in a poor team of 5-10 teenagers trying to do best they can with no experience and no money to make your life as acceptable as possible considering the money you pay.
Dinners consist in a low quality level Help yourself buffet that you would probably have ignored even at the hungriest time you had as a student.
No activity organized on site ( no bear watching, Quads out of order, a few Kayak that are so complex/messy to book that everybody borrow them without reservation,...)

So a BIG red card to the invisible Management team. What a big difference to Sacacomie where we stayed a few days before and which was a real delight with so many activities.

This place should be called a youth hostel and cost not more than $40 per night. It's an extremely basic and tasteless accommodation where everything is stripped to the bare minimum. There is a total mismatch between the impression you get when checking their online pictures, and reality. Chalets have mostly no view and are of very low quality. Public areas are overcrowded and very noisy. Walking trails are poorly indicated.

Ironically called "superior", our room was extremely basic and small, poorly finished and furnished, with no air conditioning, no TV and no Wi-Fi (available only in the main building within a 10-minute walk). Shower/toilet room was so small we had to kneel to be able to see ourselves in the mirror. The worst part though was the non-existent noise isolation. You hear absolutely everything your neighbours do and say, even when they start whispering after realising the same.
The manager of this "establishment" dismisses all similar reviews (just scroll down for his previous feedback). The truth though is that the place is totally overpriced for what it is, while there are enough quality properties in the region, including with stunning views of rivers and lakes.

we stay only one night at Cap Leste in Ste-Rose du nord, the room are basic but clean and comfortable, each room does have a beautiful view on the Saguenay river. There is no air conditionning but we slept very good with window open and fresh air from Saguenay, not noise disturbed our sleep. We had choosen to eat there and have a package with dinner and breakfast. The employees were very pleasant and offer very good service. We had terrine as an appetizer and for main course meal the choice between pork filet or whole trout, the desert was a nice chocolat cream mousse. The view in the restaurant is totally breathtaking.
you have the possibility to do kayak, fishing and swimming in a lake.
however, there is 6km of gravel from the highway to the hotel site...not very pleasant when you are running a motorcycle or a sport car....but we didn't regret our stay.

I stayed at La Pourvoirie du Cap au Leste mid-june with my husband and my 6 year old son. The purpose of our long weekend was to relax, stay close to the nature and enjoy the Saguenay area. La Pouvoirie was a awesome place to stay, food was great and even if there is only one menu with strarter, main course and desert, the Chef was able to change the main
course if needed (for ex: I do not like fish, so he replaced it by chicken for instance). Really appreciated. The view and area are gorgeous and the staff is really pleasant and professional. I do recommend La Pourvoirie Cap au Leste. Next time we will enjoy all winter activities.

If you are looking for somewhere to soothe the senses and re-energize the spirit...this is it. It is located away from the beaten path on a wonderful property that looks south over the Saguenay with stunning views that will take your breath away. The fall colours were spectacular. There are wonderful trails to wander the expansive property and enjoy the tranquility. The rooms were cottage style rustic, clean and comfortable and the staff was helpful and friendly. The food is hearty and tasty. Definitely a very revitalizing and enjoyable experience.
