“The Facts!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We have just come back from a 2 week all inclusive holiday at the Alborada Hotel as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 14 and 11.
The hotel itself - There is no doubt about it, it does look just like a car park from the outside and the surrounding area is not at all pretty but once you are inside it is absolutely fine and like any other hotel. It is a massive hotel with over 750 rooms and it does need a bit of TLC and a lick of paint but the main thing for me was that it is spotlessly clean everywhere.
The staff - absolutely superb. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. When we arrived we were directed straight to the restaurant as we were still in time for dinner. We were then told how to find our room which was at the back of the hotel on the 4th floor. On entering the 4th floor from the lift it was in complete darkness but as soon as we told the reception staff this was fixed immediately. I cannot praise the staff enough, they work very hard and are extremely helpful and friendly.
The rooms - they are pretty spacious even for a family of 4! There is a main lounge area with a double sofa bed, double bedroom with 2 single beds, bathroom and kitchenette including a fridge. There is a safe that you have to pay extra for but for the added peace of mind was worth it for us. The balcony is a fair size with a couple of chairs and a table and also there is a handy clothes airer attached to the wall.
The view from our balcony was pretty rubbish as it was overlooking the main road however this wasn't too much of an issue as we didn't spend that much time in the room!
The food - lots of people on here have moaned about the food and for the life of me I cannot understand why. Every day there were beautiful, very fresh salads, pasta or rice salads, a choice of meat or fish, almost always there were chips, lots of fresh bread. Yes it can be a bit "samey" if you have a bit of everything every day but if you eat a meal like you would at home for example fish, salad and chips one day, meat potatoes and vegetables the next etc then surely you won't feel like you're eating the same every day!
In the restaurant you can help yourself to red, white or rose wine, beer, fruit juice, tea and coffee.
The bar - the staff in the bar are fantastic, they work very hard and are friendly especially if you make an effort with them. If you are rude then dont expect brilliant smiles back!! Manners cost nothing and unfortunately too many people cannot even cope with please or thank you.
Yes sometimes there is a long queue at the bar but the staff work fast and efficiently so there is no need to moan after all when do you ever go to a busy bar at home and get served within seconds.
Overall we had a fantastic time at the Alborada and yes I would return if only for the amazing pool! As many gave said, if you want 5 star then pay 5 star prices but the chances are that if you are stopping here then you, like us, are on a budget and you are at a 3 star hotel, but as far as I am concerned it's a fantastic 3 star and I enjoyed every second of it!!

Having read other reviews on here we were beginning to regret having booked this hotel. We went open minded not expecting much from the food and an outdated dirty hotel. Well, first impressions are as everyone else has described the hotel looks like a really old dirty multi-story car park from the outside. Inside the reception is more modern although starting to look shabby as are the communal hallways. The rooms are large and clean, although dated. The towels were changed every day and the sheets were changed several times over two weeks. We found that the sofa bed ran downhill towards the wall, but just swapped the sheets so the kids could lay the other way up, and the mattress was thin, but overall the beds were comfortable.

The food was much better than we were expecting. Big selection at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food at dinner was different to the selection at lunch time every day. There was always fresh salads, fruit, pasta, rice, veg, a different meat and fish every night, oh and chips. With not a cockroach or fly insight. You had a choice of help yourself juice, fizzy, beer or wine. Although must say after two weeks was craving a toasty.

Wasn't sure about the swimming pool before we went, with it being salt water I didn't think the kids would really go in it, boy was I wrong. They had snorkels and we couldn't get them out of it. The pool is a really good size, it was emptied twice whilst we were there, to clean the seaweed and sand out, as the sea water breaks over the pool wall.

The hotel has a lovely small black sand beach right next to it, the sea was great for snorkelling.

The hotel has wifi which is accessible from the bar beside the pool although it was hard to get on during the evening as so many people were trying to get online at the same time. Early morning is best.

There is a kids mini club during the day, although my boys, 9 and 7 felt they were too old, did join in some of the activities in the bar or pool area. The kids disco in the evening is a let down, only four songs every night. And the entertainment after is a joke.

The resort of Las Gallatas is a really quiet fishing village, a couple of restaurants more for the locals, as are the shops, mostly supermarkets and little clothes shops. All the shops are shut in the afternoon, and are only open from 5 until 8.30 in the evening. Costa de Silencio is a 20 minute walk, which is a bigger resort with a square with English bars and restaurants with evening entertainment, although found this quiet too. Los Cristianos and Playa are easily accessible by bus, 1.50€ or 2€ a person.

To sum it up, this hotel is designed for couples or families that are looking for a cheap, no frills holiday in a quiet relaxing location. If you want nightlife you really need to head into Los Cristianos or Playa. We had a great holiday and the kids really enjoyed it, but would have liked more from the hotels evening entertainment.

This place has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Staff are rude, not helpful and need a lesson in manners. It is filthy. The corridors look like a prison landing. It is dark and dingy. We were all inclusive and the food was so bad and repetitive we had to eat out using our money we were hoping to use for spending. We were told there were snacks and ice cream but we found this not to be the case. When you go to get food you have to give your room number. We had to do this so our children could have ice cream as there was not any during the day only if you wanted to pay 1.50 euro each. The entertainment didn't start until 10.30 which was handy for them as the all inclusive drinks were stopped at 11pm. On our arrival I found toe nail clippings in the 'flower box' on the balcony. I asked them to remove them and after almost a week I had to go down and demand someone comes up to the room and clear them out. The sofa bed was leaning down yo one side. When we looked under it we found it was being held together with cable ties that had snapped. We went down to reception, told them and they said they have not got any more cable ties. My husband then said they need to come and put a new sofa bed in room and 10 minutes lated they came up with 6 cable ties and we had to fix it ourselves. The concrete was constantly falling off balconies/ The pool was so green on the bottom kids were writing their names of the pool floor. There was mould around the taps in the bath. It was the worst 2 weeks holiday I have ever had. You couldn't pay me to go there again.

Room Tip: The only tip for a good room is go to another hotel.

We have just come back from a 10 day all inclusive, the food is ok, not much choice. Two choices of main each meal, no children's choice offered, chips at every meal!...ice cream is available in the restaurant but not as part of the all inc, not all drinks are offered either and some are chargable as is slush for the kids. You can buy ice lollies or tubs of ice cream at the bar. The bar is well understaffed and there is always a long queue esp at night. The apartments are roomy, clean although like the whole place is in need of a little updating, the staff are pleasant!
The pool is huge and is sea water, there is a childrens pool aswell! .....however BEWARE, the toilets in the bar area are the tolilets used during the day by pool users and the floor is wet through, my 5 year old needed the toilet and i went with her holding her hand, the floor was swimming, there was toilet roll all over the floor, she slipped and banged her head on the door frame, it was clear that the toilets hadn't been checked for cleanliness or safety for some time ! I reported the incident to a security man stood outside the bar who was not in the least bit interested, i then went to reception where i found another member of staff, i told him what had happened and the state of the toilets, he said i will get you some ice, i then followed him back to the bar where he handed me a bag with some ice! That was about as much interest or concern we got, i wasn't asked my name or room number, there was no first aider in sight, no wet floor sign and no cleaner, i said can you make sure the floor gets mopped as i wouldn't want anyone else to fall.
The entertainment isn't very good, and although it says there's a children's disco, they play maybe 2/3 songs and then that's your lot!
We went on a few trips, the aqualand and jungle park you can buy a twin ticket which saves you a bit of money, 34 euros for adult and child was 20 for both parks, both are an excellent day out , we also went on the catamaran trip from the harbour where we saw whales and dolphins in the sea, there is an all inc bar on this trip inc in the cost which was 103 euros for the 3 of us!
A visit to the los christianos market on sunday 10_3 is a must, and the beach is lovely there too. Hope this is helpful to people planning a visit, we loved Tenerife, it was our first time and had a fabulous holliday but we wouldn't return to the Alborado im afraid!

We spent 8 days in Alborada Beach in July 2014 and I must admit we had a fantastic time. The hotel offers great value for the money you pay. Do not expect luxury, flashy, designy corridors, rooms or similar things, having said that - everything you need to have a nice rest is there. Rooms (Apartments) were huuuuge, cleaned daily, staff very helpful both on reception and in the restaurant / bar area. Location great, outside bus stop that can take you anywhere you want in the area. Food was decent, however things were repeating, which can be understood due to the volume of tourists they have got there. We were on the All Inclusive package, drinks at the pool bar were good, although cocktails were pre-mixed. Overall we had a great time and would definitely go back again.

Booked our holiday through Holidaygems.co.uk and the pictures on the internet were of the back of the complex. The hotel is about 40 years out of date, ant infested and over-run with cockroaches!! There is no air con and the only wifi is in the bar. I had to pay 10 Euro for a fan per week for the room to keep the children cool. The locals refer to the Alborada Beach Club as the hotel which looks like a prison. The whole building is a concrete jungle with no personality.

It was the first time in my life I went on holiday and seen people with pets in a hotel !! The food at the hotel all tasted the same and it was just like a school dinner hall. In fact one night as we were picking through our dinner a gentleman at the table next to us, his chair broke and collapsed under him. The waiter thought it was funny and stood laughing at him. It was just like Faulty Towers!! . The swimming pool however was great and cleaned every Wednesday and filled from the Sea. The staff worked very long hours but didn't speak much English. Hotel is also on a flight path which goes on ALL NIGHT and on one night I thought an aeroplane was going to land in our room as it was flying so low. We had booked All Inclusive but spent more time eating outside the hotel in the Tapas Bars as the food was more appetizing there.

We had an enjoyable 2 weeks at the Alborada Beach Club.
Upon arrival, we found the staff friendly and helpful. Our ground floor apartment was spacious and contained 2 rooms, a kitchenette and a nicely sized balcony overlooking the gardens and pool.

Each morning it was pleasant to see green parakeets flying about the grounds.
The pool is a huge salt water pool backing onto the Atlantic. At times the waves from the sea would come crashing into the pool.
The hotel also has it's own private beach and although small, it's good for snorkelling.
The poolside bar area was spacious and there was always a good atmosphere there. We met some great people and observed some even greater characters.

The friendly animation team provide activities throughout the day and there is entertainment each evening but this is basic. We particularly enjoyed the Flamenco Show and were surprised to find John Bishop as the lead dancer.

We had no issues with the food other than we have had more variety on previous holidays.
The resort of Las Galletas is interesting in that it’s not your typical tourist resort. There are plenty of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. We ate out a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed the overall ambience of the town.
The nearby marina also has an abundance of restaurants specializing in freshly caught sea food. Well worth a visit.

All in all, we had a really good holiday. We would have no qualms in returning but would budget to eat out a little more. We would also hire or buy a fan for the room as there is no air conditioning as the evenings were a tad warm.

Room Tip: Ground floor for convenient access to the pool.
