“Modern appointments in old chateau”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2012

This interesting chateau lodging is located in the midst of the St. Emilion montagne region and is a designer's feast of remodeling of an old chatau and chai. Newly-weds might enjoy the excellent rooms with luxury features including a bottle of the chateau's own wine. Close to all of the regional wineries and towns, the location is ideal for visiting. The morning breakfast is copious and served in a kitchen breakfast area that lent itself to morning exchanges with other residents.

What an extrodinary place! We arrived on a Sunday evening to find out that no one else was staying in the chateau that night. We were shown to our room (more on that later) and given the keys to the place and left there.. with an entire Chateau to ourselves! It was very exciting.

We stayed in Carmeniere, which was just beautiful. It was very sizeable, very clean, very well appointed and the bathroom was huge and modern. Easily the best shower we had in France. Oh and when you opened the windows they looked out over the vineyard. Cannot say enough about how fantastic the room was.

In addition, we were served breakfast at our time of choice each morning. Croissants, bread, juice, coffee, yogurt, etc. Maryline made us feel very at home and was very kind and charming. We requested a tour of the wine making side of the building and she showed us everything and even let us taste a couple of wines.

This is one of the rare places that I would seek out to stay in again. It's only about 8-10, scenic driving minutes from St. Emilion and was significantly less expensive then the hotels in town and much nicer from what I saw. I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Our party consisting of 2 couples, stayed here for 1 night in Apr 2012.
Chateau De Mole is a short drive from St Emillion and the new owners have done an excellent job restoring the chateau into an elegant property.
The rooms ( Merlot and Cabernet) were very clean, spacious, had high ceiling with beautiful exposed beams, picture windows where you can look into the greenery outside from your bed and well fitted with all the modern amenities. The bathrooms were the highlight. Big space, twin wash basins, jacuzzi bath and the private, in-room sauna was a real treat.
No lift -so if you don't want to climb or have heavy luggage, take the rooms on the lower floor.
A tour of the property with tastings was also included and was conducted by a very warm and
humorous Maryline. As mentioned in other reviews, Maryline is a gem - hospitable, helpful, answering all our queries promptly and though we arrived late, she waited for us.
Yes - the chateau is not easy to locate. Hectares and hectares of vineyard all around. We had both the Garmin GPS and Google Map directions and still drove around a bit before finding it.

My husband and I stayed at he Chateau de Mole with our two daughters (8 and 10) for two nights in April 2012. It was a wonderful treat, and the owners were extremely accommodating in making it work for us, supplying two twin beds in the very large Cabernet room -- we did not feel cramped at all.

The lovely young woman (daughter of owners) who worked at the hotel recommended an excellent restaurant for dinner for us on the first night and our girls were quite enchanted by her overall.

My only small "complaint" is that there was no one there when we arrived and the door was locked. We were apparently expected to call to say we'd arrived, but there was no phone number posted on the door -- and we do not have a cell phone. Fortunately, I did have the telephone number stashed in my luggage and a passerby kindly let me use his mobile.

I would nevertheless highly recommend the Chateau de Mole as a base from which to visit the St-Emilion area.

We stayed at Chateau de Mole in September, 2011. We took 4 rooms, as we were travelling with family. This was a wonderful place. The rooms are fantastic. They are large and beautifully appointed with a state of the art bathroom including a sauna and a spa tub. Our hostess was amazing. She was very accomodating, and the daily breakfast was a treat. It turned out to be a great place for us all to meet outside to play games and check our emails. It was truly a fun place for us. The only issue we had was that the chateau sat on a busy intersection creating a lot of traffic noise. We were there in the peak of harvest time, so everyone was very busy. I highly recommend Chateau de Mole. It was priced very well, and the rooms were first class.

my group of 4 adults and a baby stayed for only a night at Chateau de Mole and everyone came away raving about how beautiful it is. the interior was re-built beautifully with gorgeous fittings. the whole place look exactly like it does on the website!

we couldnt speak any french and the lovely young lady that took care of us (sorry! i forgot to take her name, only remembered she's the owner's daughter) was extremely accommodating. we arrived late at 6pm and had to leave early the next morning, she readily agreed to take us for a tour of the estate and did an impromptu wine tasting as the usual guide was off sick for that day.

she gave good dining recommendations and quickly arrange for taxi to take us into St Emilion town centre (as we didnt have a car) and make sure that the taxi is available to fetch us back.

i love the place so much, im looking forward to returning soon, but this time for a much longer stay.

a little tip in general for St Emilion: best to rent a car. we arrived by train and had to drag our luggage for half an hour to the town centre to call for a taxi to get to the Chateau and taxis are not cheap there! ~ eur 30 from the Chateau to the town centre.

My wife and I wanted to visit the Bordeaux area and decided it would be nice to stay at a chateau. After doing some hunting, Chateau de Mole seemed to be one of the most reasonably priced chateau accommodations. I knew little about the location other than it was close to St. Emilion.

Turns out we struck gold with this place. The chateau was very recently renovated and our room was beautiful. It was quite large and had pitched ceilings (Merlot room - top floor). The bathroom is extremely modern, with a rain shower, hot tub and sauna. The views were of rolling vineyards. Truly a delight.

The inn keeper is very friendly and was helpful in pointing us towards some great restaurants in the area. She had a nice breakfast ready for us every morning and was also very happy to take us on a tour of the winery.

One word of caution - this place is really in the middle of nowhere. The chateau apparently does not have a traditional address. So either get a good local map or use the national route number as your destination in a GPS system.

Room Tip: Merlot room was very nice.
