This is a truly gorgeous villa in a beautiful location. It is very well appointed with excellent facilities and the beds are very comfortable. The pool is lovely and the garden and terraces provided plenty of sunny and shady areas. Despite the heat, the downstairs bedrooms remained quite cool and sleeping at night was not a problem. Marta, the property manager, was extremely helpful and certainly went 'above and beyond' to help us with difficulties we encountered.
The only improvements I would suggest would be more towels (there was only one medium sized towel provided for each guest) and better information specific to the villa and its location. The information booklet seemed to be generic for the region and other villas. The addition of a 'guest comments' book would have been really helpful, both to read and to add to.
The local restaurant, Federici's (3 mins walk!) was fabulous and very cheap but is not mentioned in the guest information. There is a bread van that delivers to the square at 10am on weekday mornings (not sure about weekends), which we didn't know about until the end of our week's stay. This is not really a 'touristy' location and shopping is limited so a list of local street market days would have been useful.
All that aside, we had a fantastic holiday at Il Melo and hope to return again next year.

My husband and 2 girls booked Il Melo this July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The converted chestnut barn was ideal in the soaring temperatures as we could throw open both end doors and allow the warm breeze to blow through the living area of the house. The bedrooms were on the ground floor partially shaded and therefore cooler than you would expect.
The only restaurant in this very small but friendly village, "Fredericks" I think it was called, was excellent. The antipasti was to die for and whilst the decor was spartan the service and food more than compensated. We ate in it 3 times.
Finally Marta who manages the property was a treasure, she grave us brilliant advice on the best places and restaurants to visit in the area. We loved our stay and will happily return.
PS a reviewer mentioned the dog next door which did bark occasionally but not in the middle of the night and it was extremely friendly.
