Screaming and shouting at guests in the dining room, who had politely commented they had the wrong breakfast; demanding pre-paid guests leave the building; moody encounters on the staircase; more screeching and screaming in the hall after guests had gone to bed. Maybe Marinela, our hostess, thought we were after a Fawlty Tower Experience. However having arrived for a calming break only a few days after my mother had passed away – Marinela only succeeded in making me more upset and stressed than I had been on arrival. This was actually our second visit but definitely our last.

We booked this place mainly for location and after reading previous reviews. We visited in February but I have waited until now to write something as I have been monitoring this site. At last someone else had a bad experience. We had booked for 2 nights but abandoned the place after one night. The smell was awful, the place deserted, the female who cooked breakfast left us to go and 'do my other job' ... the list is endless but my final comment is I can say that we eventually found one of the smells came from rotting fruit in a drawer in the room!

Enough said.

We stayed here on 5/4/14 for one night. We stayed just under 3 years ago, and unfortunately it had gone down hill. The guest house smelt of stale smoke.
The room was ok, but the main problem was that all night, every few minutes, a bathroom fan from a neighbouring room kept coming on. It stayed on for a few minutes every time, and there was clearly a fault. Nobody gets up to use the toilet continuously! We hardly slept a wink and mentioned it to the lady who was looking after the place in the morning. She couldn't have been less interested so we e mailed the owner Gary with our thoughts.
The lady obviously intercepted the e mail and replied that we were over sensitive and should next time go and stay at the Petwood Hotel! Not really the response we expected!

My boyfriend and I recently stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We received a really friendly welcome from our host and were shown to our room which was very clean and a good size with a lovely bathroom.

The location of the guest house is great for the local things to see and do, and the restaurants and cafes.

Our breakfast was really nice! Full English with toast and tea, and orange juice. Cooked perfectly and all very tasty. We were also offered cereal but wanted to keep room for our cooked brekkie.

We would stay here again if we were in the area. Thanks!

I stayed at Claremont the night before my wedding at the Petwood with 5 of my wedding party. Gary and his wife couldn't have been more helpful, great room, very comfortable surroundings, excellent breakfast and extensive advice on the local area. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Claremont, 3 rooms, and I can only say how friendly Gary was, from the first contact until check out. We requested quite an early check in due to our friends wedding and Gary didn't have any problems with this.

The rooms were clean, spacious and warm, breakfast was really good, just what we needed before driving home.

If we ever visit Woodhall Spa again, we know where to stay.

Gary and Marinella run a first class Guest house. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the bed was very comfy. It is a great base if you want to explore "bomber country" of WW2 RAF airfields with notable locations like the Battle of Britain memorial fight at Conningsby, RAF Scampton, Dambusters connections and East kirkby aviation centre.
Parking is available and there are enough close dining choices. Stayed for three nights and found everything fantastic, with plentiful breakfasts and great chats with Gary.

Room Tip: Parking on the street is quite fine if the small attached carpark is full.
