“Centrally-located hotel in Sibu”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

The best thing about Premier Hotel is its location. It is nestled right smack in the heart of Sibu Town and from its central location, most of the popular tourist attractions in Sibu are within walking distance and you seriously don’t need any public transport, just a leisurely walk around town would help you complete your visit itinerary. To add to the convenience, there is even a shopping mall linked to the hotel and sharing the same building.

Being a three-star hotel, there’s no swimming pool but most other basic amenities were available. The room was very clean but looked a little tired. It has all the basic facilities except that the furnishing was a little bit wanting, just practical at most and really needs upgrading. The bathroom was poorly equipped too and we had to request for a few standard items which were not supplied.

Wi-fi connectivity is provided at no charge but they have strict control over its usage, resulting in every device being given a different set of username and password, provided by the people at reception. This is in contrast with many hotels in other countries that have started to provide open or unsecured wi-fi connection within the hotel premises, which is a plus convenience for the hotel guests.

For diners who want to play it safe, there’s a lovely restaurant, New Capitol Restaurant, just across the car park from the hotel and they serve some good Chinese and local dishes. There is plenty of food in Sibu and there are many outlets, coffee shops and restaurants scattered around this part of town. As Sibu is basically a Foochow town, there are plenty of Foochow food to be enjoyed here and their simplest and tasty noodles called “Kampua mee” is marvellous and can easily be found during breakfast at every corner of town.

There not many hotels of international standard in Sibu and Premier Hotel is rated among the top few and convenience being the deciding criterion and selling point, it is definitely a good choice hotel for travellers to this town.

We had a newly renovated room on the top floor for 2 nights here. The newly renovated suite room are spacious and had good amenities. The furniture however is a mix between and old which kinds of defeat the purposes of the renovation.

This hotel is smacked in the Chinese downtown and there is a small mall in the adjacent building. There are not much in it however unless you are in pirated DVDs. There is also a small movie theater if you want to kill some time.

The staff are courteous but does not smile that much. The breakfast (Chinese and Malay options) is one of the worst that I have had in a 3* restaurant. Strange considering I enjoyed the Chinese food that I had is the restaurant around the hotel.

Overall, I would give this hotel a 3.5*.

Staying here during my outstation duty somewhere last year.., I found that this hotel is in the centre of town area. The room looked simple. Cosy bed to sleep. Parking space in front of the hotel quite hard to come by. There's also a parking space at the top of the building. Food provided could be better if there's a change of variety. The check-in process was quick and the front office officer greeted me in a friendly manner. The furniture inside the room a bit out dated. No WiFi signal detected in my room. The room service could be better. However, this hotel will be your choice as it is located at the town area and nearby coffee shop. Overall, everything could be better...,

Newly renovated rooms, everything in good shape, great service from the receptionist to the cleaning lady. Food provided was okay, would be nice if you change it just even a slight, Provide free parking with security if you own a vehicle.

Its near to pasar malam, has a old school cinema right next to it, everything you need its well taken care of.

Room Tip: book early to avoid disappointment

Stayed here for 2 nights while attending a conference in Sibu. Great location, within walking distance to the market, wharf and nearby eateries. Parking in front of the hotel was hard to come by, but there was adequate parking space for hotel guests at their top floor..entrance is from the back of the hotel. Check-in was hassle-free. I was given a spacious room at the very end of 4th floor. Furnitures look a bit dated, felt like it was stuck in an era, but most importantly it was clean & comfortable. They could do with a bit of updating, of course. No internet available in rooms, but my room was located high enough to detect WiFi from nearby hotels (they really should think about putting on passwords :p). Breakfast was basic, did not taste awful but really nothing great. There's a cinema attached to the shopping mall in the hotel building, so that's a plus. All in all nothing memorable, but decent & does the job.

I've stayed in this hotel for quite a number of times, and trust me, they never fail to deliver. My family was having a pit stop in Sibu for one night, and staying in Premier is always the best choice. At RM200++ for a spacious and comfortable family room, it gives us the best value for our money.

However, the only drawbacks that I hope the management would improve in would be the breakfast buffet. It was a standard decent buffet, but clearly the chef is not creative or imaginative. The presentation of the food item would be boring and unappetiizing. A good examples would be the sliced cucumber and chicken sausages i the serving trays. The chef just simply put them there without any effort in garnishing. Good looking breakfast would be a good head start for us to begin our days.

Room Tip: Try rooms at the corners. The bathroom are really spacious.

the place is at the centre of the town, it very nearby to the famous pasar malam (night market) and other shopping mall, and eating place. but the price at this hotel also not cheap due to it strategic location. the only problem, it hard to find parking space.

Room Tip: a nice place but you need to pay more to enjoy more
