“Nice rooms - very good restaurant”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

We booked the Le Clos Normand just for one night using bookings.com.
The hotel was easy to find, as it is located directly at the esplanade of St. Aubin.
The welcome was professional and warm-hearted. The look and feel of room 207 (siedeview to the ocean) was maritim (blue and white) and cosy - allthough the room and especially the bath was quite small.
We had dinner at the hotel-restaurant - outside facing the ocean: great view! The dishes (fisch, seafood, desert) tasted excellent. (3-course menue: 25€; large bottle of spring water: 6€)
I would recommend the hotel for a romantic weekend.

Room Tip: You don't need to book sea-view room - the ocean is just outside the hotel!

We were in town for the D-Day ceremonies. This happened to be the first restaurant of a few that we visited that week, and the one to which every subsequent restaurant was compared. Fabulous presentation, amazing food. Not to mention a fabulous patio overlooking the channel. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Fabulous food.

I have stayed at this hotel before. This time I was guiding a group of travellers for D-Day 70 and wherever one went in this area, it was full of veterans and people who wanted to pay their respects. The Clos Normand was fairly full but this did not detract in any way. One can sit on the beach terrace bar and know that you are on the Juno beach which featured importantly on June 6th 1944. 70 years on, at 6:30am, I looked out of my bedroom window to see the beach swathed in sunshine, a wonderful setting. The rooms at the hotel cannot be described as capacious, they are small but appealing in a rustic sense. The restaurant is good, we ate here for 4 nights as a group, the house wine, particularly the Chardonnay is well acceptable. Breakfast is quite satisfactory with home made, fresh squeezed orange juice. The staff are really hospitable and friendly. The one downside was that WIFI is only available in the reception area, but really, does one have to have accessibility all of the time? I can recommend this hotel, I shall certainly be back

Over the last ten years we have returned to this hotel five times for longer stays. And are likely to do so again. The hotel is well located with the boardwalk and beach in front. This allows for long and nice walks and also for a good point for visiting the D-day beaches. The staff is highly professional and friendly and the kitchen had good quality.

We stayed here for two nights while driving the D Day roads. (We didn't see the American cemeteries or a couple of other things due to the government shut down!) The nicest thing about the hotel was that a lovely promenade was right outside of the hotel. Very nice for walking and views. We had a room on the seaside with a large window looking out to the sea. If you are of average or larger size, I would try for a different hotel. Maybe they have different beds in different rooms, but I don't think so. My husband is over six feet tall and the bed was pretty uncomfortable. The room was so small that you could walk around the bed, but that's it. No room for even a chair. The restaurant had good food....a whole fish and a steak that were excellent. The place must be run by a family that lives there, as the kids and a dog are running around. That was kind of nice to see, though.

We had a great room with sea views from two windows. The room was lovely and warm as was the bathroom,it was a very chilly windy day!! Very good powerful shower. The staff were friendly. We had a very nice meal in the hotel restaurant overlooking the beach. Would love to go back in the summer.

We were in Normandy recently and stayed at Le Clos Normand. Although the room and bathroom were small, it was clean and well located. We had a room overlooking the beach and with the windows open we had a spectacular view. The restaurant serves excellent fare - the desserts are out of this world. The staff were great - friendly and knowledgeable. If we ever return to this part of France, we'll be sure to stay at this hotel. The food is excellent, the location is perfect, the rooms are clean, the staff are friendly (even to us non French speaking clientele). What more could you want?

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the beach offer great views but nighttime revelers can be noisy.
