Had not booked a table but they were able to seat us, really busy with families and large groups, did not expect it to be so busy as remote. Watched vultures flying overhead whilst sipping cold white wine. The menu was varied and a good selection of specials, rabbit, suckling pig. We had a starter that was recommended by the waiter, very good cant remember the name but it was marinated mackerel, very tasty sweet and sour tastes. Loved the outside seating area with bar.

Saturday nights experience at dinner on a family special occasion was the worst in Spain. The staff were pre-occupied - unorganised - under pressure - the food was BLAND, agricultural and poorly presented...... the ambiance resembled a motorway cafe with children, pushchairs & roadside view ! The whole experience was extremely disappointing, we wasted a babysitter & a precious night out, should have stayed local and eaten in the many gourmet restaurants in the Sotogrande area ! My advice would be drive past and go to an excellent restaurant further up the Casares road and visit Arroyo Hondo which is superb......

We visited the Venta Garcia twice for lunch on our recent holiday. The food is simple Spanish cooking which tastes delicious and is served by the charming owners. We had the menu del dia at €13 on both visits which included a choice of salads or soups followed by mains such as confit of duck, cod, sea bass and lamb. My husband's cod was scrummy and would have cost a fortune on any uk menu. The setting for the venta is beautiful and i particularly liked the ibiza inspired bar where you could enjoy a cocktail. Definitely worth a visit.

Very nice setting in the mountains above estepona. Starters were ok, but mains were not good. A bit strange. Service is ok, bit our waiter had a bad night.

Had lunch here with hubby & teenage son this week.

Service was slick but not massively friendly although sometimes I do think this is a language barrier thing as once I started speaking Spanish (Spanglish!) the waitress softened a bit.

The restaurant setting is lovely. We sat inside but the conservatory was also very nice. The piece de resistance was the relaxed, Moroccan style cocktail bar area outside. It felt very cosmopolitan for a country venta!

On to the food which is of course the most important part...

We opted for the amazing-value menu del dia. When the menu came , it looked incredibly simple (e.g the mains said 'meat' 'fish'). However, when the waiter explained the menu to us it turned out there were several choices for each course. (E.g. meats choice: steak, roast lamb or pork; & fish choice: swordfish or bream)

All courses were fab - we had salads, lamb (HUGE - basically a whole shoulder!), steaks, desserts, a bottle of wine, multiple sparkling waters & coffee for 56 Euros!

I'm not usually a dessert person but I couldn't resist the mojito sorbet which was genius!!

Highly recommended & I'm certain we'll return many times over our 3 month stay in Casares this summer.
