“Wonderful staff and excellent accomadation”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

This was our second visit to Lions Valley, this time taking our son and his girlfriend who were visiting from the UK.
The staff are so helpful and obliging, always a smile.
Nothing was too much trouble and the accommodation is beautiful, each room with a different theme.
The only downside we had was with our ranger. He was extremly knowledgable but we did have to continuingly ask questions as he was not that fourth coming with information.
That was fine for the three of us that visit reserves regularly and know what a guinea fowl is etc but not for those having there first experience.
More often than not we pulled up to view an animal or bird and nothing was said until a question was asked.
As previously said his knowledge was excellent but maybe a little more experience will help.
I would extremely recommend Greg as your ranger for a visit. He drove us to collect our car on our departure and gave us so much information when we came across things.
Greg is also the GM along with his wife Audrey who make your stay extremly special.
The game viewing was good considering the grass was so long and we even had lions visit the camp.
We look forward to retuning again.

Room Tip: All are different themed, check your preference before booking but all are very nice.

Hi
Thank you for your review of Lions Valley Lodge. It is always good to get feedback of any type for us to be able to work on the positives and the negatives in our business in order to give a better service to our guests. We will look at how the rangers interact with their guests on their game drives and encourage them to be more interactive on their game drives. We are also glad that the game viewing was good. We look forward to seeing you again at the lodge in the near future.
Kind regards
Cheryl F

I was one of Lions Valley's first guests on their opening weekend 5 years ago. 22 or 23 visits later and I still keep coming back.
To truly appreciate the lodge, you should stay for 2 nights, but 1 night is still enough to experience the magic that there is to offer. I have had 3 night trips and 5 night trips, and it never gets boring, or repetitive.
There are so many different lansdcapes to enjoy- from the waterfalls to flat savannahs, forest to bush veldt, the wildlife is teeming.
Greg & Adri are awesome hosts. Greg's knowledge is incredible if you are lucky enough to get him on your drives, and Adri makes you feel like this is your home away from home.
Charles is lovely- always has the biggest smile on his face, and does his absolute best to ensure your stay is incredible.
I have recommended friends, colleagues and clients to visit Lions Valley and no one has ever had a negative comment to make.
I have stayed at other lodges on Nambiti before, but none of them make you feel more at home than Lions Valley.

I am going back again in 2 weeks, and cannot wait.

Room Tip: Look on their website and choose one of their themed lodges. They all have stunning views. In winte...

Stayed here for two nights and were blown away by the accommodation. Each suite is decorated on a different theme ( romance and Africa were our favourites) and are HUGE. Each suite has twin bathtubs, twin indoor and outdoor showers and a massive verandah with views to die for. This reserve provided the best game viewing we have ever had. Forget the large safari reservations this place is superb. Due to the few vehicles in the bush the animals seem to ignore our presence. Saw everything at close quarters mesmerising. The lodge provides full board and will do special menu requirements. Would go back tomorrow if I could

Room Tip: Look at the brochure and decide which decor suits you best. We liked the more muted romance or the...

As a seasoned world traveller, knowledgable game enthusiast and having spent 2 years living in the Kenyan bush, I can honestly say that the staff, cuisine and the "Personal Visit Tailoring" is simply the best I have found in East & South Africa. Whilst many game lodge staff start your safari experience with a shower of information, the staff of Lions Valley start by listening to you, asking your story, establishing your requirements and tailoring a great safari / lodge experience just for you. Nothing is too much - they focus on the safe, special and specific customer experience and appreciate the importance of value for money.

What makes them stand out in a very competitive field? - Awesome Communication Skills, Professional People and Outstanding Execution. Most Game lodge staff "listen" but Lions Valley Lodge Staff "hear and act".

Having visited for the first time in May 2010 and return annually from both Kenya and the UK with both family and friends, my love of the lodge and reserve has grown exponentially. Such are the characteristics of the lodge staff, you instantly feel part of the wider Lions Valley Lodge family, you are always remembered and are made to feel at home by staff.

Why do I love this lodge and the Nambiti Game Reserve? - The Lodge is beautiful, individual and located in a stunning setting. Nambiti is exceptionally accessible by both Road and Air from Johannesburg and Durban (3hrs drive), it is compact but has a varied mix of open savanna and closed in rock and water features. The reserve has great conservation principles whilst it matures and seeks to enhance both the "Big 5" and wider spectrum of the game stock. Every day is a different day on safari but you must get engaged and involved. The Lions Valley Lodge experience seeks to place you in the environment and sees you learning all about game, the bush and history of the reserve. Every animal, flora and fauna is special and the game guides are more than happy to take the time to discuss each in turn.

Why should you choose Lions Valley? - It is the best affordable Safari Lodge customer and game experience that you will find in South Africa. The Lodge is stunning, staff are awesome and the whole experience simply second to none. In May 2013 our South African Durban Family were amazed by both the location and the quality of the complete package. As typically frugal South Africans they were swept of their feet and loved every minute. This has resulted in us booking again for Mar 14. It is not a busy Reserve and you feel like it is made just for you. It is modern, luxurious and yet has that in the bush, non fenced feel.

Final Thoughts - Lions Valley Lodge is a top end, high calibre and awesome Game Lodge. I recommend all to visit and look forward to seeing you there. Greg and Audrey are outstanding hosts with a passion for what they do and a love for natural South Africa.

Room Tip: Review Rooms online at the Lions Valley Lodge website and request your specific lodge in advance. Th...

What a wonderful place and people. We enjoyed the company of Adri and Greg and the staff consisting of a.o. Nic, Nolan, Charles, Joe, and many more. The lodge is great with very nice chalets, and great views. The staff goes out of their way to make your stay just the best, the service was impeccable.

The food was awesome, and the three cooks did a great job.

The game drives were awesome, with us seeing the big 4 (we missed the leopard) in just one day (we stayed 3 nights) - and that while we were focusing on birds!

Room Tip: See my review of the Nambiti Conservancy also - and the quality of the roads. Something that the lod...
