Esiweni Luxury Safari Lodge
Certificate of Excellence

This was the second time there and the quality of the lodge is still the same. Can only accommodate 10 guests. The entire lodge is just built at the edge of a cliff, overlooking the river and part of the game reserve.
Rooms are big, well furnished with large bed, bathtub and outside shower as well, huge balcony to enjoy the gorgeous view.
Food is excellent and for each meal the chef is coming with couple of suggestions to make sure you will enjoy it.
Welcome is certainly the most appreciable part of this place, Magda and Natie are perfect guests, always ready to assist and make everything possible to make your stay the best possible. Same for game drives which are really nice. Nambiti is a not so big game reserve but we take the time to go everywhere and see everything.
Really a place to go for few days.
Last point there is no network there so you can't even be bothered by phone calls or emails.

Room Tip: All rooms have tremendous view on the river, but Honey Moon suite is certainly the best as further a...

We had a brilliant two days at the lodge, Natie and Magda were great hosts, very cozy rooms with comfortable electric blankets for the cold nights, Nonni was a great chef spoilt us with some lovely food. The safari rides were great we saw the big 5 and Natie's talent in spotting them was extraordinary so was his intense knowledge about the terrain and wildlife. All in all an exciting couple of days, DO NOT MISS the Chetah project a must see and must do event. Will surely return the stay was more than worth every Rand.

Cheers

We had a great weekend at Esiweni. Lodge was luxurious, food was great and drives were fantastic (albeit cold!) Ewert made up for the cold with good drinks, blankets and hot water bottles in the vehicle.

What we did not know when we did our booking was that this lodge is inside a private game reserve (Nambiti) and we had to be picked up and driven to the lodge. Game drives were included in the price. We had some amazing experiences, with a lion couple having a lovenest next to the road and we had a cheetha jumping into a tree right next to us. There were also white rhinos in the reserve. Our guide was well experienced, and gave us an enjoyable time and the food was excellent. The location was also lovely, and the service was very personal and intimate. The rooms were a bit cold and we did see a large spider in our room!

Esiweni is a small lodge, so our group had the whole place to ourselves. Magda and Natie were wonderful hosts, and did everything they could to make our stay special. The outdoor breakfast at the waterfall is a memory to treasure. We took our 4 year old son and everyone did all they could to accommodate and completely spoil him!

The game reserve is I believe restively small by South African standards, but we had wonderful sightings and were able get up close to various individual and groups of animals. We will remember being close to a large family group of rhinos, we could have spent all day there. I think Esiweni is a wonderful place to stay and a great first experience of safari.

I have recently brought 2 groups to Esiweni Lodge at Nambiti Private game reserve and we privately hired the lodge exclusively for our groups. Magda, Natie and their team, including safari guide Ewert took fabulous care of us and we were spoilt rotten. The food was excellent, the lodge location is in a picturesque setting and the 5 bungalows are absolutely wonderful, the landscape is very scenic and we enjoyed some great game drives. We got spoilt with sundowners, a delicious South African Braai and a special bush breakfast near the waterfall. I'll certainly be back with more groups in the future and can highly recommend this lodge.

Esiweni Lodge in Nambiti Game Reserve is an intimate establishment with little luxury lodges latched onto a cliff looking out over a rushing waterfall and winding river far below. Everything was simply remarkable: from the safari drives in stunning and sweeping savannah scenery with plentiful wildlife, to the unique and upscale thatched-roof lodges, from the spacious, leather-laden main room where we took our drinks by the fire and scrumptious dinners thereafter, to the people. Here’s to: Ash for your melt-in-your-mouth delicious and inventive culinary creations, you are surely destined to be a top chef at a top restaurant someday. To Magda and your husband: for your warmth and down-to-earth hospitality. To our guide Ewert: your knowledge of the bush – everything from the most exciting game of lions, elephants, and the like, to bewitching birds and even the enchanting constellations in the South African sky—and your low-key, even-keel presence through it all, made our games drives a real pleasure. Lastly, to our fellow guests who made our weekend complete: from the British doctors celebrating Bonnie's thirtieth birthday party, you sure made things fun for us all; and to mother-daughter South Africans Mel and Laura whom we hope to welcome to our home in Washington/America someday…

Room Tip: We weren't on our honeymoon, but somehow we managed to snag the "honeymoon suite" - mo...
