It's a nice enough place, beach and sea are superb, but our whole experience was dented by Keycamp's assurances beforehand that we would have cabins next to each other, and then we arrived to find we were a good 10mins walk away, which with a 78-year-old disabled grandmother made it so much harder for mealtimes and evening socialising. She's rung up especially to get confirmation that it'd work, but Keycamp liaison between sites and HQ is obviously seriously lacking because it couldn't be done. When you spend two grand getting there and for the week and food, it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Having said all that, our little kids just loved it, so, similar to the other review, do go, but not with Keycamp.

The resort of Lieux Port is a 1500 site campground/caravan park. With this many sites the resort is actually a very active/busy town of 5000 tourists. It is not a quite, chill, romantic get away spot. It is a BUSY family vacation spot.

The resort itself has a great pool and park facilities. Remember this is a busy place: the pool is busy, the on-site shops are busy, the roads are busy, the disco is busy. The beach is wonderful but given the placement of your campsite you many have a 1.5 km walk to the beach. Wifi is not free and very expensive to purchase, 8 Euro/day/device.

We found our stay with Eurocamp to be acceptable but not good value. We rented a two bedroom caravan for two nights. The per night charge was more expensive than our two bedroom VRBO flat in Paris, on the Seine, directly across from the Louvre. Given the king's ransom we paid for our Eurocamp caravan we were expecting something a little more posh and better equipped than we received. The unit was clean and spacious but the mattresses and pillows were of poor quality (the pillows were 6 cm thick). Although the unit had a kitchen we had to buy/provide our own: BBQ grill, dish soap, dish washing sponge, dish towel, salt, pepper and TOILET PAPER. These are items that normally come with a self catering unit. Providing your own toilet paper was also absurd. As is normal at the resort you must also bring, or rent, your own sheets, pillow cases and towels.

The resort has many different tour companies on site capable of renting you holiday accommodation. We wished to extend our stay at Le Vieux Port but Eurocamp had no available unit thus we changed tour provider and rented a caravan from El Fresco. The El Fresco caravan was: larger, half the price of Eurocamp, and came equipped with: a BBQ grill, dish soap, dish washing sponge, dish towel, salt, pepper and TOILET PAPER. We were also lent a beach umbrella and beach matts.

I would be wary of booking a vacation property with Eurocamp again because of the value. There are other service providers at Le Vieux Port that will provide better accommodation for less money.

Room Tip: Be aware of the "extra charge" items.

This was our first trip to the region, with our two boys 7 &10, we stayed in a eurocamp tent as part of a trip from Santander to Roscoff. I was a little disappointed when we arrived and i seen just how big this site was! As it was the 9th Aug i expected it to be busy but this was crazy! We went straight to the pool and it was so busy you couldn't move! The pitches were tiny, our tent was about 10 inches away from the neighbouring tents, luckily i paid extra to get nearer the beach and we had a view of the park and sand dunes in front of us, so our pitch was one of the largest. The caravan pitches were as bad with the decked area of one touching the next! Also there was a lot of noise on the site our first night from the 'entertainment' and then the some groups hanging around until about 2am. I think that Friday night is party night! The negatives over with i will say that the shower blocks were immaculate - which takes some work with that many people on site! I never had a problem taking a shower every morning. After a day we soon settled into it, there is loads of miles of amazing cycle tracks and we were able to get away from the 'crowd' quite easily. The neighbouring village of Port Albert was beautiful and very friendly, my youngest was offered a crabbing net by a little french girl and they played for hours together. Also you can cycle the whole lake. We enjoyed going to the beach every night and watching the sunset. May take the boys again when they are teenagers and wanna party! Take you bike and you will love it!

Room Tip: Get a near the beach pitch with Eurocamp

We were really pleased with the service and facilities on this site and had an absolutely fantastic holiday because of this. The pools were great fun and plenty to do for children of all ages. Even though my youngest (4) couldn't / wouldn't use the big slide he still had smaller slides to use. The wave pool was a great hit with both kids and although it got busy in the water it was still a good experience. The site was laid out very well and it didn't ever feel as big as it was.

The surrounding area is lovely and there are local supermarkets are worth using, instead of the campsite shop. It is only a walk to the beach which is lifeguarded but doesn't give a very big area of use, which is a shame.

The toilets and shower blocks are all incredibly clean and fully stocked. The site had a policy of quiet after 23.00 which was adhered to all the time we were there.

Would recommend this site, especially to families of small children.

We made our 2nd visit to Vieux Port in May during the French holidays. The camp was just opening up for the season and we expected a quiet week with the kids. We were wrong; even though only 40% capacity, it was starting to feel busy as loungers were getting difficult to find at the pool and queues forming at the restaurants and snack bars.
SInce our last visit the previous July, more and more mobile homes had been positioned, resulting in less privacy and more noise - great for the kids but tiring if you are a parent wanting to relax a bit!
Having said that, the Key camp staff were great, helpful and attentive. The facilities were great and location second to none. Lots of football pitches and tennis courts, as well as basketball and table tennis.
The beach is close by, lovely for sunbathing but really dangerous for swimming (about 5 people have drowned this year already). Great cycle paths so easy to go to Vieux Boucau or Moliets. The food was reasonably priced with an on-camp pizzeria doing great stuff although wise to order in advance.
If you like "busy", you can't go wrong!
