This is a bit more than just a touristic tour. A guide will take you into a real cave, that has not really been modified by man (except for a very few security arrangements). You will need good walking boots (no ski booths and you'll get shoes from the guide if needed) and you will also get a coat (otherwise you'll destroy your clothes on the rocks), helmet, and a headlight. Leave bags, backpacks, and jacket at the guide's office as the cave is quite warm (2°C) and passages are tight. The tour is not for extra-large people as you will need to duck or climb through passages (I'm 170cm/68 Kg and could not go through all passages). Apart from the mild physical challenge the tour is rewarding, especially if you have interest in geology, as this area is quite unique. You'll need to understand what the guide says, however, and in my case the tour was in German (I guess they would also be able to do it in English). If you are not mother-tongue German, however, the Austrian accent might be challenging :)
The basic path is the same for all, but if you are fit and sufficiently agile, the guide might take you into passages which are a bit more difficult (but also more rewarding). The tour takes 45-60 minutes. Meet the guide at its office at the side of the Spannagelhaus (walk down the ski slope at the top station of the second ropeway and follow the signs for about 5 minutes - it might be a challenging walk if slopes are icy and beware the large snowmobiles!). There are not many people visiting this cave, which might give you the chance to have a private tour (especially if the last one in the afternoon). Price (11 EUR as I was there) and times of tours (3 times a day) are costantly adapted. Check with the tourist office for the most up-to-date information (website is outdated).
