This may be a strange request (and this is my first post here on tripadvisor) but I would greatly appreciate your help. I have just been in Arraial do Cabo as one of the last stops on a trip through Brazil. I can really recommend the sunset at Pontal do Atalia - it is very spectacular!
When I was there (at the main view point) on Thursday Aug 8th, I came across this very cute, sweet and very weary street dog - see the attached picture. Arraial do Cabo is full of stray dogs and many of them are reasonably well off. They seem to all fend for themselves pretty well and the local people are generally friendly to dogs, leaving water out for some of them at shops etc.
This individual however was on his own and - despite the fact that the view point is visited by many people during the day - was extremely hungry and thirsty. He was also limping a little, seemingly having a problem with his front right leg. I came back on Thursday evening and again Friday morning with food and water which I passed to him slowly so as to not give him indigestion. Unfortunately, I had to leave early that Friday and was not able to take him to a vet or do anything more for him.
Now this may seem like a slightly silly post. There are lots of stray dogs around Brazil and most of them are quite capable of fending for themselves. Arraial do Cabo is certainly not the worst place for a street dog to live either. There is a good chance that one of the locals will take to him and help him out.
Even so, I would greatly appreciate it if people could keep an eye out for him (he seemed to be fairly residentiary at the view point) and perhaps give him some dog food and water when they can.
Please let me know if you have seen the dog and have any news on his condition. Many thanks for your understanding and help!
