“Lovely and really colse to the beach”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

The pousada location is very convenient: 10 minutes by taxi to the bus station (R$ 15, fixed price) and 1 minute walking to Praia Grande. We stayed in a suite standart plus (number 26), very clean and spacious, with a nice view to the garden, the village roofs and the distant Praia dos Anjos, with 2 beds together (weird but comfortable) and an extra single bed. The staff was very attentive. The restaurant is pricey but worth it, and is supposed to be the best in town. The garden has an amazing collection of bromelias and is very well-kept. The pool is very clean. I'd definitely stayed again.

Great place- felt like we were very looked after. More of a hotel than a guest house, with a lovely pool area and decked area for the pool bar. Rooms very clean and enormous bed. Lovely balcony with great view over the city. Staff were helpful and booked a boat trip for us which we highly recommend- some amazing beaches and reasonable price. Great breakfast with everything you could possibly imagine you could get for breakfast, then about 10 massive cakes in the middle of the room also!! Thanks for a good few days.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms with view over pool and city.

Stayed here from June 28 - june 30, 2013. Nice pousada just up the hill from praia grande. This was my first trip here and liked it very much. The beaches are awesome. I know Buzios has a better night-life, but I still like this place better. A more relaxed feel to it.

The room itself is of decent size. Bed comfortable. Just like in Rio, had air-conditioning but didn't need it. Did use the fan. I didn't watch too much tv but I think, like the hotel in Rio, all the stations were in Portuguese.

Nice pool but didn't use. The beach was to good and convient. Safe in room which was nice. Needed to borrow an adaptor to recharge my phone. They use the two round prongs type to plug in.

Breakfast was okay. Unless I missed it, didn't see any hot foods the two days I had breakfast. Mostly cakes, breads, fruits and cold cuts.

Staff was very helpful. Depending who was there one spoke great English, the other decent.

The only thing I didn't like, they didn't supply beach towels.

This is a very nice looking, actually - quite impressive - pousada, for this small and (outside Brazil) unknown beach town - Arraial do Cabo. This town is only 25 km from famous Buzios, but a world apart.

The owner is German, we were told, and one can see that in the general layout, beauty and organization of the buildings and grounds.

The rooms are huge, beds are comfortable, the restaurant is nice, and it's only 200 meters to a glorious beach, all this is very nice indeed.

But - a few issues did lower my rating:

Why assign the worst rooms in your pousada when it is half empty? That is bad policy.
We were given 2 rooms (we were 4 persons) toward the noisy street, when there were many better rooms available. I agree with the review before mine: It is surprisingly noisy!

Most of the staff seemed rather sullen and depressed. Maybe this reflects pressure from above (management) which is also seen in the information sheet we were given when checking in. There was a long list of things that are forbidden (the usual things among others- do NOT take towels to the beach, bla bla..). A nice place normally does not lecture it's guests, it has a contingency account for some minor losses, should they occur.

But then: They have NO beach towels, not free and not for a fee either. Who takes towels with them on a longer trip? My suitcase is full enough without towels. A fancy beach town pousada
should have beach towels available for its guests.

This is just for information (not criticism): This pousada is completely unsuitable for guests with small children. The balcony railings have huge gaps, enough for a small elephant to squeeze through (without much effort). Totally unsuitable if you are traveling with small children - you have to watch them every second.

This is a very nice looking pousada in an inexpensive beach town, but it thinks it is upscale and charges accordingly. If they improve a few things they would be worth a higher star rating.

Room Tip: Definitely insist on a room away from the noisy street!

We spent two nights at Caminho do Sol. The place is nice, the food is very good. Don't expect much from the bar, but the restaurant is great! The breakfast is the best thing about it! All kinds of cakes! Delicious! Very friendly staff. The odd is the room. Not quiet. We stayed at #29 and there was a lot of noise coming from the street. It's a bit overpriced for a place like Arraial do Cabo.

This was definitely the best pousada during our four week stay in Brazil! Nice views over Arraial do Cabo (due to its location on a hill) but also not too far away from the centre and the beaches. Good breakfast and dinner. At least one of the receptionists spoke English. They accept credit cards.

we stayed in winter for a couple of nights and really enjoyed the place - Arraial was fun and the pousada staff friendly. Rooms were okay and the restaurant excellent. A tip!
