“Cozy but dated - fine for a nights sleep”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Sabro is a very small town not too far from Aarhus. In Sabro you find two inns. The most modern one is Hotel Sabro Kro – the other one is Nilles Kro.

If you are travelling by car and if you just looking for a night’s sleep and a decent dinner (Danish country style) you will enjoy Nilles Kro.

The service is very laid back and a little old fashioned, but the rooms are ok and the restaurant is quite ok.

If you are visiting Aarhus as a tourist, this is not the place to sleep. Find some place in the city.

Internet is not too impressive.

Eagleflyer's review below is very accurate. It's a perfectly good hotel, with clean rooms appointed to a reasonable standard.

But the service in the evening is a little hit or miss (there's no bartender, for example, either the receptionist or someone from the kitchen will eventually serve you), and it really is in the middle of nowhere.

I didn't eat at the restaurant, which necessitated a drive to get anywhere ( I went to Aarhus, which is about 20 minutes away).

Stayed at the hotel for one night when traveling from Aalborg to Aarhus on business. Found the room to be quite good - comfortable and quiet. However, the service was not as good and made one feel as if one was imposing on the staff.
The hotel is a short drive outside of Aarhus, on the side of a country road. It does not take long to drive into Aarhus, so the hotel could very well be considered as a reasonable alternative to staying in Aarhus itself.
The rooms are quite comfortable with nice beds and a good bathroom. The room I had was in the back and was nice and quiet - I noticed no traffic noise, despite the hotel being so close to the road. The common areas are nice and comfortable, but unfortunately they are closed off at about the same time as the restaurant, which closes quite early in the evening. There are also seats in the hallway where the rooms are, but that is not a real alternative.
The service at the hotel was its weak point. It has the feel of a family-run establishment and each time something was needed, be it in the lobby or in the restaurant, it felt as if one was imposing on the regular life of the people working there. This was especially noticeable during the dinner when it became necessary to go and find the staff a couple of times.
The hotel is very nice and in a beautiful area. With a bit more effort on the service-side, this could really be a great place to stay.

Selected Nilles Kro from the Small Danish Hotels website and was very pleased with the room and friendliness of the staff. Funny, but I always rate hotel rooms by the shower (amongst other things). Some hotels just can't get it right, either the temperature is uncontrollable, it leaks all over the floor or the shower head is rigidly mounted, not on a flexible hose etc etc. Well the shower here scored a very u usual (in my book !) 10 out of 10, even the shower floor was heated. The rest of the room was excellent too, comfortable bed, quiet at night even though facing the road (50 metres away). Breakfast was just right too. Thoroughly recommended if you're visiting Aarhus, only a short drive to the city centre. Would stay again on next visit.

We had booked a gourmet weekend with 4-course dinner and breakfast. The stay was very comfortable, food very nice and friendly service.
The only thing I would change is the option to choose other dishes instead of the set menu. There wasn't any other dishes avaiable, so if you are vegetarian or allergic to something, you are a bit stuffed.
The breakfast was a little poor - there wasn't really enough selection and the bread wasn't baked enough, but overall we had a comfortable relaxing stay.

My husband and I enjoyed this hotel for its friendly and welcoming staff, beatifully decored rooms and interiors and good breakfast. We were travelling with a car so free parking lot was a good thing.

You will find nice Danish designer lamps from Poul Henningsen in this hotel, comfortable sitting areas and close enough location to visit Aarhus for restaurants and shopping.
We only had breakfast in the hotel's restaurant.

Feels like you are staying at a family run hotel-restaurant and that you are taken care of like you would be a family member. Only minus to this hotel is that the WiFi was only accessible in the common areas and not in the room.
Higly recommended!

Very nice hotel, good service, excellent Restaurant. Rooms in front may be disturbed by noise from the road.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter
