We are a couple aged 38-44 who stayed here for 4 nights. The self catering units are part of this Italian family home but you are separate and free to come and go as you please. There is a courtyard for guests to use but each room also has its own kitchen with hob, fridge/freezer,cutlery, pots and pans etc.
The village of Meta is very small. It has a beach, 1/2 small hotels and probably many hidden b&bs in each walk way and a couple of small supermarkets/a butchers/bakery. There were 2/3 restaurants of which we only tried antoinetta which was a lovely family run place. It was nothing posh but true good quality food, great prices and lovely home made puddings.
If you want a nice quiet spot to base yourself for visiting this coast this village is ideal.
Meta is on the main train line running from Naples to Sorrento. It took us 1.5 hours to get from Naples. Meta is 3 stops away from sorrento which took around 5 mins. The walk from Yellow sorrento is around 10 mins to the train station and it costs €1.6 pp per trip.
There are also quite a few buses going from meta to Sorrento at a similar cost but slightly longer. The bus station and train station are the same place in Sorrento. Please note that for some buses you have to buy a ticket before you board. We got caught out now knowing this beforehand.
During our stay we visited Positano and amalfi. We chose to take the ferry from sorrento port each time. One way to Positano was €15 pp and return to amalfi was €40. Ferry is best as it’s so much quicker and you don’t have to stand in the bus queues!!
We also visited the two places in between meta and Sorrento which were sant angello and piano Sorrento. Both nice to wander around.
I would highly recommended this b&b if you want to experience true Italy. The views are beautiful, and your windows allow you to hear the church bells and birds singing.
One suggestion to Georgia would be to provide a basic handout for guests to explain how the buses and trains work and where to catch them and a map of the village. I googled most things on the free WiFi or looked it up before we went but we did get caught out standing in the wrong place for our coach back to Naples airport. Having said that Georgia was available to ask questions and also on what’s app messenger.
Her and her father Toni were very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. X
