Don't believe the negative reviews, Everything about this hotel is excellent, the friendly and helpful staff can't do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The room we were given was lovely with amazing sea views, it is situated away from Sorrento itself but for us this was a bonus as it was less busy and had its own beach, Sorrento has no beaches as such, the harbour areas have sunbeds on raised decking and are VERY expensive to hire. The hotels private beach itself is pebbly but the sunbeds, umbrellas and towels are provided free, The all inclusive option is definitely the best option, otherwise it can work out quite expensive and there aren't many other restaraunts close by, All the drinks are branded, the food is very good and there is an excellent choice. The comments made by others that the service is quite slow in the restarant on gala nights is true, but so what, you are on holiday, whats the rush ??
All in all an excellent hotel and definitely one we will go back to!!

Room Tip: always ask for the best available with a sea view

For a middle aged couple holidaying without kids and going fully inclusive, this hotel was perfect for us. Don't let the dated external architecture put you off, the hotel is very clean, well appointed and has great air condition throughout (including the bedrooms). The staff were friendly and could not be more helpful. The food was good and includes the option of a cooked Italian style English breakfast as well as the usual continental offerings, a packed (if you are out for the day) or buffet lunch (pizza, burgers, etc, are also available for those with bigger appetites) and four course evening meals, which we ate on the terrace watching some amazing sunsets. The pool was a little small, but other than that could not be faulted. The hotel's private (gravelly) beach proved to be essential as it must have saved us a fortune with all the others in the area not being accessible without payment, and the hotel's beach/pool attendant will make sure you have a sun bed, parasol and beach towel all free of any additional charge. Our room had the perfect sea view with just the terrace between us and the beach, it was everything we expected and perhaps a little more (with a safe and fridge included in our standard room). The hotel was a little remote, however, there is a free regular shuttle minibus into Sorrento, but this has to be booked in advance (as spaces on the bus are limited). Having said that, all the tours we went on (Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri and Amalfi) included transfers from the hotel to the coach stop, so the remoteness of the hotel did not affect us at all. Thank you everyone at the Mar Hotel Alimuri for the perfect holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view the extra is worth it, the alternative overlooks a narrow residential road, but being a cul-de-sac is not busy at all.

We stayed at this hotel for one week all inclusive from the 22nd June 2012. We didn't know what to expect as it had mixed reviews. When you pull up to the hotel it looks a bit deceiving as it is down a quiet road and doesn't look much from outside. From the moment you walk through the doors, you enter a different world. The hotel is beautifully furnished, the food among some of the best I've had in Italy (I've been about 15 times) the staff including the reception, waiters, bar staff and even the life guard can't do enough for you. The all inclusive drinks include all branded drinks. The only negative is the location, it is outside sorrento main town and there is nowhere to walk to locally, but it runs a free shuttle service and there are plenty of local buses. It more than makes up for this, by having it own private beach (99% of sorrento hotels are no where near the beach and you have to pay for sun beds etc) a lot of people of people, we met who were staying in sorrento said they would have preferred a beach. I can honestly say that the location didn't stop us from getting all around the area including Pompeii, Capri, Amalfi and Positano using the shuttle service and local buses and boats etc. What ever you want from a holiday whether it be a relaxing, peaceful holiday or visiting all the attractions on the Neapolitan riviera, this hotel won't disappoint. We shall definitely be returning to this hotel next year.

Location is great by the beach. There is also a pool.
Hardly walking distance to restaurant area. Seems to be mainly all inclusive guests there, and if you dont want to eat the buffé, restaurant is not a hit. Breakfast is great though
Very friendly staff.
Hotel newly decorated. Very good cleaning
Small room facing the street, but not much traffic. Air conditioning excellent.
Free parking withn fences with is a major advantage in this part of Italy

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the sea

We had two weeks at the Alimuri at the beginning of June. I cannot believe some of the negative reviews posted on trip advisor recently. We have been taking our main holiday in Italy for over 15 years and are well used to the somewhat quirky Italian star ratings but can definitely confirm that this hotel deserves its 4* Rating.

Our room was beautiful, it was very large and well furnished with a balcony with magnificent sea view. We found all the staff very kind and helpful. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and there was a good choice of food on the table d'hote menu. We have never stayed in an "all inclusive" hotel in Italy before as they are quite unusual, but this hotel offered the standard of service and ambience we enjoy and the waiter service at lunch and dinner was, to us, preferable to the "all you can eat buffets" normally associated with all inclusive hotel.

The bar staff were excellent and the drinks were quality premium brands (they even had my favourite - Bombay Sapphire and Schweppes Tonic).

The beach was well managed by the resident lifeguard, he put out the loungers and umbrella for you and supplied you with a beach towel and he even arranged for drinks to be delivered to you on the beach, what more can you ask?

Hotel location was good, we have stayed in Sorrento twice previously and it can be noisy, this hotel had the advantage of it's own beach and a free mini bus was available to take you into Sorrento when you wished - we did not experience any difficulty booking tickets on the bus we required.

I can honestly say that this is an extremely well run hotel which is a credit to the Manager and his team and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea view room, it's worth every penny.
