“Fantastic apartment and host in Meta”
Reviewed 1 November 2017 for a stay in October 2017

Just returned from a wonderful holiday staying at the Villano Castellano in the village of Meta approximately 15 mins from Sorrento by train (cost of ticket 1 Euro 60 cents)

The apartment was very clean (no 12) and comfortable leading out to pleasant and tidy courtyard with lots of plants and fruit trees with our own patio area. Our apartment was spacious with well stocked kitchen area and spiral staircase leading to bedroom with adjacent showeroom.
Luigi greeted us on arrival and could not have been more helpful ,providing us with lots of information and recommendations for our stay in Meta and exploring the surrounding area.

Local pizzeria Rossario (2 mins walk) from apartment excellent quality and value . Would recommend trips to Pompeii and Almalfi Coast.

Sorrento is lovely but to escape the crowds would throughly recommend staying in Meta in these apartments and visiting the local beaches and attractions.

Although we travelled in October please remember to take mosquito repellent to avoid being bitten.

“Perfect base for exploring the area - up to Naples and along the Amalfi Coast”
Reviewed 30 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Castellano apartments in Meta are a little off the usual tourist track, which makes them all the more appealing. The views from the top terrace across to Mount Vesuvius are amazing and it is really easy to use the local train (although this can be very busy) to get down to Sorrento or up towards Popeii and Naples. Buses run from Sorrento to the Amalfi coast but expect them to be busy as well and to need early starts each day to sightsee around the area. This is a perfect base to do just that, however.
Luigi could not be a more welcoming and helpful host. His recommendations were sound and helpful. There is a local restaurant where you can enjoy a 3 course meal for 12 Euro and the Pizzeria along the street do a takeaway pizza for just 4 Euro. Their bakery also bakes delicious bread which can be bought fresh before your daily adventures.
Airport transfers are also easy.
Beware of the spiral staircase up to the mezzanine level and bedrooms/bathrooms - not suitable for those not fleet of foot.
We thoroughly recommend this rental - a week was not enough to see everything - we will have to return.

We just returned from spending 9 wonderful nights at Villino Castellano Apartments in Meta. From the moment we arrived until the morning we left, EVERYTHING was perfect. Luigi met us upon arrival and took the time to give us a map of Meta and go over the important areas of it, while answering any questions we had about the area. We can't say enough about the hospitality we received during our stay. We were on the top floor with amazing views and only a few steps to the rooftop terrace. There were several occasions we met Luigi while on the terrace or coming back from one of our many excursions and had great conversations about restaurants, etc.

Now for the apartment: Exactly as described. Furnished comfortably with everything that you could possibly need. One of the best features of these apartments are the amenities offered by Luigi. If you need it; i.e. Heat, A/C, Wi-Fi, etc. You pay for it. If you don't need it.....you don't pay for it. This is how Luigi keeps his costs down for his guests. This is an incredible option that other apartment owners should consider.

The day we left was bittersweet because we were getting used to the area and enjoying the wonderful weather. The morning we checked out we were surprised with additional hospitality from Luigi. He saw our bags and offered to drive us to the train station.
The reason Luigi has such wonderful reviews is because he is truly a gentleman and makes his guests feel welcome in little town.

We have stayed in many apartments during our travels but this place stands out for us because of it’s history, it’s incredible location to everything and most of all……Luigi. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to see just a small part of your world.

Anyone considering the possibility of visiting Sorrento, Positano, Pompeii, Piano, or Capri should book your apartment in Meta with Luigi. It's less than a 10 minute walk to the train station.

“Peaceful and relaxing stay”
Reviewed 23 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had a bit of an issue finding the apartments in the car, but once we arrived Luigi the owner gave us room 25, a lovely spacious apartment with mezzanine en-suite bedroom and well-equipped kitchen. Balcony was perfect for us too, with lovely view of the sunset every night.

Meta is a lovely little town a short train ride from Sorrento, with some nice restaurants and a great little bakery and pizza shop nearby. We were glad to stay somewhere away from all the tourists of Sorrento in August, and apart from the scary driving and sheer amount of traffic, we had a lovely relaxing stay at Castellano, just the job!

“Wonderful stay with a wonderful host in Meta!”
Reviewed 14 August 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The day we arrived, Luigi gave us a map and a clue to meta. That night we enjoyed a beautiful unobstructed sunset from the roof top. The room was big and airy and you could easily stay for several days as there was a full kitchen. We loved the location and our host!

“Homely place with a great owner who became one of fhe family”
Reviewed 16 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We booked the room 22 for five days in July. It was nice and clean, all needs met. There was a TV, shower, cooker, fridge and freezer. No air conditioning, but as we had a balcony and a big fan, it made no difference. This apartment was in two floors, separated by a nice spiral staircase. We have two children under the age of six, but had no bother with the stairs. The biggest problem we had around the children was the upstairs, as although it was safely fenced off so that you couldn't fall down, the kids were still small enough to fit through the metal poles. thankfully they took our word for if and stopped trying soon enough. We had a double bed, single bed and a sofa bed for a family of four which was plenty. Only issue we had with the apartment was that there was no hot water when we got there, but we turned the boiler on in the bathroom and got hot showers within the hour. Not a real problem.
The owner,Luigi, was a total star. He lives on the upstairs apartment and was always on hand when needed. He provided us with loads of maps, recommendations and useful information throughout our visit. He was great with children too, who absolutely loved him. His English was excellent, although we preferred to practice our pidgeon Italian on him.
This apartment is located in Meta, which is a lovely place full of locals, not tourists. It's only five minutes away from Sorrento on a train, which goes every fifteen minutes or so and only costs 1,30 per adult and children go free. The tickets could be bought at the station. No bother at all. You can also get to Napoli in the same train, costing 3,60 for an adult. It takes about an hour, or you can get off earlier at Pompeii. So the transport is not a problem at all.
Meta itself is quite small, all walking distance. The beach is 900 metres away and took us about twenty minutes with the young kids. It's all downhill going there, and uphill on the stairs on the way back. Luigi has a deal with a local shuttle bus though, who will pick up from the beach and take back to the apartment for just an euro per person. We found this totally unnecessary, though. There are two big supermarkets in Meta, plenty of small shops and some restaurants. Better self-catering, or going to Sorrento where restaurants are everywhere - though prices are a lot higher there. The pizzeria across the road from the apartment is lovely, with brilliant staff and good prices. It's only 12 Euros for a huge family pizza, 6 for a regular one and 5 for a nice meal of gnocchi. Well worth a try. There is a nice place called Ristobar right up the stairs from the beach too, with nice food and lovely staff - again, with really good prices. We had three pizzas, an antipasti, two bottles of juice, water, two bottles of wine and a plate of gnocchi for sixty Euros.
