“Quality and Value in the Loire”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2012

Only 27k from Blois, this is everything that one hopes to find in a good, bourgeois French hotel - but often doesn't. An attractive old coaching inn, renovated without losing too much of its original character; comfortable, if smallish, bedrooms; excellent food; reasonable prices; and a slightly formidable but highly efficient and helpful Madame who keeps the whole show running smoothly.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

We didn't book this hotel until the last minute, through booking.com, and paid 80 euros a night, which is more than we would normally pay, but we felt it was well worth it. We did request a large room and ours was large and beautiful - it had two double beds and a decent sized bathroom with bath and shower. The beds were very comfortable and the duvets and linen top quality, plus there was a large wardrobe so we could unpack completely for once. We didn't eat at the restaurant at all - it was expensive but looked absolutely beautiful. It's a quiet little village, but close enough to all the main attractions and chateaux, so it's fine. We had lunch the first day at Le Commerce nearby and that was excellent. At the hotel there is a lovely courtyard and garden area at the back, where you can also dine, and there is free WiFi throughout the hotel. Car parking is free but limited, and there are plenty of spaces in neighbouring streets. Very nice hotel and we really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: We only saw the room we were in, which was Room 7 on the first floor facing the front - had 2 double...

This was a delightful family run hotel in a very interesting small village a little south of Blois. Our bedroom was lovely but there was no partition between the bedroom and bathroom which I thought rather strange. The food was absolutely delicious, although there was rather too much and we felt extremely full.

Room Tip: There is a busy road going past the hotel so rooms on the garden side would be quieter.

I spent three nights at this charming hotel with three of my friends in September, 2011. We had two rooms and all of us were totally pleased with the hospitality shown by David and Agnes Moreau. David is a master chef and his meals are fabulous. Agnes is organized and friendly and makes her guests feel welcome. We only wished we could stay longer and would definitely love to return. We will recommend it to our friends. Pontlevoy is centrally located in the Loire Valley and is just a short drive from most of the chateaux in this beautiful region of France.

Room Tip: At the time of our visit WiFi was not available in all the guest rooms. If you wish to use a laptop...

We have returned from a lovely trip to the Loire, which was enhanced by this lovely little hotel. The room was clean and large with a cool atmosphere to it.
The food was outstanding and a lovely garden restaurant to sit in.
The owners were delightful and very helpful. There is plenty of parking and it is a quite town to leave your car.
The owners 2 dogs were great if you like animals as we do!
The village is very quite but located well as a base for the Chateau`s in the area.
We would stay again if in the area
