“Lovely B&B in perfect location !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

Michele's house is in a very nice village called Pontlevoy, next to many castles and lovely villages. It has a restaurant starred in Guide Michelin, l'Auberge de l'Ecole. We went there in springtime and enjoyed the landscape as much as the carboot sales and wineries around. The house itself is charming. We stayed 1 night in the front ensuite and 2 nights in the upper room. Both are cosy and perfectly clean. The upper room was my favorite, more spacious and furnished with exquisite taste. In both rooms, the showers are of the latest technology ! You will sometimes hear the lively sound of piano and violin that Michelle plays and teaches. She herself was very welcoming, always quick to adapt and give pieces of advices about the area. The breakfast is also delicious. I will definitely come back to Michelle's place at Maison Clergeau !

This review is long overdue Michelle, sorry. My mom came to visit me while I was staying in France, and we stayed here for a few nights and had a blast. The house is great and the town of Pontlevoy is a charming small town. The locals are so wonderful too. Its a great location to see all the chateaus in the Loire Valley, and taste great wine and cheese. There is an amazing restaurant in the Hotel de l'ecole just a short walk from the B & B. Hope to be back soon.

I thought our holiday was going to be severely curtailed when our car rental fell through. Being a holiday weekend, all car rentals were unavailable, and we would have no ability to see the famous chateaux of the Loire valley.

However, when I called Michele, she very nicely offered to come out to pick us up from the train station, and when our train was delayed she got us a reservation at the local restaurant (which is very good). She sorted out bike hire in the morning, and we had a great two days bicycling along rivers, through farmlands to castles and picturesque villages as well as just hanging out in the picturesque village that her house is located in.

Her house is quite beautiful, in a quiet little village in the country. It's well located, with lots to see and do by bike or car. Our bed was super comfy, and it was a beautiful room. She was very friendly, knowledgeable about the area and quite interesting. We had a great weekend.

This is a lovely country break in a beautiful historic town. Wine is inexpensive, local and delicious, as are the renowned Loire goats cheeses. The house itself is an excellent base from which to explore the area, clean with strong wifi and service with a personal touch.

Came as part of a six person student New Year's Eve experience. Absolutely glorious time from beginning to end - be it exploring the rustic locale shopping (from antiques, to food to 'la fripe' - a vintage shopping experience that needs to be seen to be believed), curling up in cozy living room and chatting, to nighttime escapades involving the amazing Abbeye opposite. As a photographer there are a multitude of opportunities, particularly for landscape/architecture/nature photography, beyond the other cultural interests available. The house is itself is all as previous reviews have put and more - Michele is more than welcoming, the house clean and able to cope very comfortably with our large, occasionally raucous party. Special mention to the resident dog, who was very patient with us and was always on hand for a big furry hug. Having seen some of the works in progress going on the house, I can with some authority say there are some very exciting things in the future to come - hope I get to see them. Very very recommended, particularly for uni/school clubs looking for sophistication (goat's cheese, history, culture) as well as partying.

Having Becca here with her 5 university friends, certainly made its mark on the quiet village of Pontlevoy! She took some wonderful photos which can be seen on her site. I welcome them all back again any time soon

We had a lovely few days here with 5 adult members of the family - Michele was a wonderful host and went out of her way to be helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The kitchen equipment was a little sparse for the chef in the party but Michele was on hand to loan us things from her own kitchen which was much appreciated. We loved the location - right in the centre of Pontlevoy and a quick walk to the village shops, restaurant and bars. Well placed for exploring the Loire.

Karen and her extended family were a pleasure to have to stay. The meals produced were breathtaking and I learnt a lot from the chef about wines and places to eat in the area. I hope they come back and stay again as we now have another bedroom and two more bathrooms. Plenty of room for all their family and perhaps a couple more!

I stayed here at the end of September and we were blessed with a heatwave which really was the icing on the cake! The accommodation is spacious and airy and the beds are large and comfortable with beautiful fresh, crisp linen. I stayed in one of the rooms at the front of the house overlooking the quaint little village square. It was a delight to fling open the shutters late on Sunday morning and hear the peal of the abbey bells opposite. This really is quinessential France! The whole house is charming and full of charater, due in equal measure to its history and owner. Michele is a wonderful hostess, full of enthusiasm for and knowledge of the local area. This is definitely not one to be missed if you are visiting the Loire valley. I am going back with a group of friends next year...can't wait!
