We stayed here for 3 nights from August 3rd to the 6th for 3 nights. We found the hotel to be absolutely charming especially the hotel staff. Alex from the waitstaff was particularly helpful and friendly and really enhanced our experience and memories of staying at the hotel. I am going to break down my review into a couple of sections so as to make it as useful as possible for anybody thinking of staying at the hotel. I was there with my wife and her parents in 2 of the standard rooms.

We found the rooms to be of adequate size, the beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. We also had a balcony but never kept the door open because of the outside temperatures and were always trying to cool the room down. It seemed that the air conditioning could not quite keep up with the temperates close to 100 fahrenheit outside. I would though not make this a reason for not staying at the hotel as I wouldn`t be surprised if this is the case in other hotels as I have travelled to Italy on numerous occassions and find this to be quite normal.

The breakfast was very good and had a lot of choice, I liked being able to get an espresso or capaccino instead of just regular coffee. There were lots of choices of warm and cold food and it was a great way to start of the day. you could eat your breakfast inside or outside although we always decided to stay inside. We found the bar to be very attractive even though we didn`t take drinks inside but were impressed at the decor and the layout. We did frequent the outside terrace every night and had a lot of fun having a late drink, cocktail and ice cream. This is a really nice feature of the hotel.

After 2 days we also finally found the outside swimming pool which is in lovely surroundings but a little tricky to find. I would suggest asking about this as soon as you arrive. Also ask about the downstairs facitlities, the sauna and fitness equipment as depending which stairs you go down you can miss it all. The hotel offers a lot of amenities and the staff are exceptional. I cannot remember staying in another hotel where everybody was so welcoming and friendly. For this reason alone I would recommend this hotel.

I also liked the village of Nago and we found an excellent restaurant close to the hotel for dinner one night. The other 2 nights we spent in Torbole which is about 30 - 40 minutes to walk depending on whether you are going up or down the hill. Remember to explore the ruins of the castle close by and if you walk to town try and make sure you take the old Roman pathway that leads down through vines and olive trees and is a spectacular walk. You can also take a taxi to and from Torbole which is not too expensive.

One thing I would warn anybody about taking a car is that parking in the hotel garage can be very difficult. It is very small with lots of pillars and I remember twice having to do something like a 12 point turn in order to drive out of the garage. It is nice that it is free but in retrospect I would have preferred to have always parked outside. There is additional outdoor parking that we only became aware of on day 3 which was much easier. Overall we left Nago and the Hotel Continental with wonderful memories.

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful week at this hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was both plentiful and very tasty, the added touch of a free carafe of wine and bottled water on the table each evening was a bonus. Along with many others we were in total agreement with everything good written about the hotel. We had a hire car which we found very useful and thought the location was just what was required to be away from the crowds but not too far as to feel isolated. I don't think we would have been disappointed if we'd had to use the public transport or the free shuttle bus.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the outside bar area which at first we thought would be too noisy but it a...

I was staying here as a single person along with another single friend. We were each allocated spacious and comfortable rooms. Staff were helpful, kind and very friendly. We both loved the little touches: aperitifs before dinner, refreshments in the late afternoon, entertainment in the evenings. The hotel is situated in a small village in the mountains up from Lake Garda. A car is very useful although many guests take advantage of the numerous tours offered by the various travel companies who operate with this hotel.

We both found the location perfect for us, quiet, Italian and absolutely beautiful.

Highly recommended.

My wife and I have just returned from another wonderful holiday based at "The Continental". We have been guests of the Tonelli family in this hotel at least once each year since 2001.More frequently we visit in April/May and sometimes during September/October as we find the temperatures more to our liking at these times.
During this period there has been continued investment in the upgrading of rooms and facilities to the very high standards which exist today. This is a truly family -run hotel with a low staff turnover enabling a genuinely caring team.
The location of the hotel we find ideal. The village of Nago is quiet and conducive to relaxing with walks around the vineyards, the old village or the longer ones to the lake shore at Torbole. Therefore one has the option of the quieter village or taking convenient local transport to the very popular tourist areas of the lake.A combination of the hotel shuttle bus,the local bus, taxis and the lake ferries open up possibilities of visiting all of the lake.
In the foregoing reviews there are detailed and very accurate descriptions of the rooms, facilities and the excellent food.It would be repetitive to reiterate these details. Suffice it to say that I concur.Above all, the welcoming, friendly and helpful staff have always ensured that we have an extremely enjoyable holiday. We can`t wait for our return.

Just back from a ten day stay at the Continental Hotel in Nago with my wife and elderly mother.

The hotel is situated in the village of Nago which is 2 or 3 km up the hill above Torbolie at the end of Lake Garda. The hotel is 4 star and offers very good facilities.

Rooms are bright, spacious and very clean.

The restaurant is a good size. We were on Half Board and had Breakfast and Dinner.
A huge array of choices are offered for breakfast from continental to full fry up with numerous bakery and fruit alternatives in between.
Dinner is 5 courses with the food of a high standard and very varied. A tipical menu would be a Sald Course, An Anti Pasta, a rice dish, main course with vegetables and then dessert. Portions are not huge, which suited us. Also with dinner each room gets a half carafe of house wine each evening (choice of red or white).

At brekfast each morning you are shown the dinner menu which gives alternatives to each course shiould there be something you don't like. (This works as a kind of opt out system if you wish to change a course from the main suggestions).

In addition to the main meals Cake and coffee are available to all guests at 4pm each day.

As regards entertainment, during our 10 night stay there were 2 Galla Nights and 2 Italian Nights at all of which an organist played. (Could have done with a bit more variety).

There is an indoor pool and Sauna (which we didn't use) and an outdoor pool with a whiplpool tub which we did use. This was very pleasant. There is a facility at the outdoor pool for minimal catering but this wasn't open in June. (Their main season is July - August and I'm sure it will be open then).

For drinks there is a lovely large terraced area and a nicely appointed bar. You will find Alex, the barman, very attentive and helpful.

The only real draw back for the Continental Hotel is that it is not on the Lake Side. When we were their they ran a bus down to the Lake at 9am and one back up at 4 pm. I beleive they run a few more in high season. There are also local buses, but we found ourselves getting taxis on occassions which cost us between 8 euros and 10 euros to Torbolie down on the Lake (one way).

Lake Gard itself is a marvellous area and you can travel on the boats that link the various resorts on the Lake. Our favourites were Limone and Malchesnie.

Various tours are offered and we did a day to Vinice and a visit to the Dolomities which proved to be a highlight.

Overall we had a very good experience of both the Continental Hotel in Nago and the Lake Gards area.

Room Tip: Rooms are on four floors. All have balconies. Most rooms overllok the terrace. The outdoor pool...

We stopped here for a week at the end of May 2013. The room, service, excellent food including inclusive afternoon coffee and cake; and two heated pools (one inside) plus mini gym and sauna are of five star value. There is a fair amount of walking locally and free bicycles - BUT - it is a steep, very steep, hot, uneven walk to Lake Garda, overcome without too much of a problem by using local buses - regular, clean and inexpensive - you MUST buy tickets before boarding. The hotel staff were excellent, friendly, conscientious and very helpful; plus they have free of maps and information in English; however, the clientele are about 80% German with a few Italians and British, so their entertainment is aimed (logically) at their main customers who, although dominant, are not overtly unfriendly; but do not go out of their way to encompass anyone not of their nationality. If you like oom-pa-pa and the Eurovision Song Contest you will like the style of the first class organ player/DJ; we do not, but as this was held in a large attractive basement restaurant and we were on the third floor, we were undisturbed when we left the revellers to it.

Room Tip: Floor 3 or more and rooms facing the afternoon sun to make full use of the rooms balcony, or, for pe...

We stayed at this Hotel on a Thomsons Discovery deal which included 3 full day trips and 1 afternoon trip. The Staff were very helpful and spoke good English. All areas were clean. My husband is a fussy eater and when there was nothing on the menu that he liked, they offered something else. The bar drinks are reasonably priced with a nice selection of cocktails. 3 times in the week they offered a pre dinner drink and every afternoon between 4 and 5pm they put out cakes and you can help yourself to Tea/ Coffee/ Hot chocolate. In our room there was no kettle but other guests said there was one in some rooms. We maybe could have asked for one but as we were out on most days we didnt bother. The hotel is a steep climb above Torbole where you can take the Ferry to Malcesine and Limone. The Hotel offers a courtesy bus at 9am down to Torbole and 4pm return. On a Sunday we had walked to Riva and gone for the 4pm courtesy bus but it didnt come, so we walked back. It took us 25 minutes from Torbole back to the Hotel. The walk is steep and others said walk about 40 mins back. A safe facility was provided with no charge. The outdoor pool has good beds and was not too cold bearing in mind the weather had not been good. The weather was hot enough on one of our free days to try the outdoor pool. We were almost the only people in. We got bitten at the pool so use insect repellant but it could be due to time of day 5pm and recent weather.
