We stayed here for 3 nights from August 3rd to the 6th for 3 nights. We found the hotel to be absolutely charming especially the hotel staff. Alex from the waitstaff was particularly helpful and friendly and really enhanced our experience and memories of staying at the hotel. I am going to break down my review into a couple of sections so as to make it as useful as possible for anybody thinking of staying at the hotel. I was there with my wife and her parents in 2 of the standard rooms.
We found the rooms to be of adequate size, the beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. We also had a balcony but never kept the door open because of the outside temperatures and were always trying to cool the room down. It seemed that the air conditioning could not quite keep up with the temperates close to 100 fahrenheit outside. I would though not make this a reason for not staying at the hotel as I wouldn`t be surprised if this is the case in other hotels as I have travelled to Italy on numerous occassions and find this to be quite normal.
The breakfast was very good and had a lot of choice, I liked being able to get an espresso or capaccino instead of just regular coffee. There were lots of choices of warm and cold food and it was a great way to start of the day. you could eat your breakfast inside or outside although we always decided to stay inside. We found the bar to be very attractive even though we didn`t take drinks inside but were impressed at the decor and the layout. We did frequent the outside terrace every night and had a lot of fun having a late drink, cocktail and ice cream. This is a really nice feature of the hotel.
After 2 days we also finally found the outside swimming pool which is in lovely surroundings but a little tricky to find. I would suggest asking about this as soon as you arrive. Also ask about the downstairs facitlities, the sauna and fitness equipment as depending which stairs you go down you can miss it all. The hotel offers a lot of amenities and the staff are exceptional. I cannot remember staying in another hotel where everybody was so welcoming and friendly. For this reason alone I would recommend this hotel.
I also liked the village of Nago and we found an excellent restaurant close to the hotel for dinner one night. The other 2 nights we spent in Torbole which is about 30 - 40 minutes to walk depending on whether you are going up or down the hill. Remember to explore the ruins of the castle close by and if you walk to town try and make sure you take the old Roman pathway that leads down through vines and olive trees and is a spectacular walk. You can also take a taxi to and from Torbole which is not too expensive.
One thing I would warn anybody about taking a car is that parking in the hotel garage can be very difficult. It is very small with lots of pillars and I remember twice having to do something like a 12 point turn in order to drive out of the garage. It is nice that it is free but in retrospect I would have preferred to have always parked outside. There is additional outdoor parking that we only became aware of on day 3 which was much easier. Overall we left Nago and the Hotel Continental with wonderful memories.
