“A Delightful Home-from-Home”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

What a delight it was to spend three evenings in the warm and homely comfort of a real home-away-from-home. This is a wonderful "find" in Durbanville; a short drive into Bellville and not too far out of Cape Town to commute. The atmosphere and the gentle touch of world class hospitality are well worth it. Oh.. and the almost 'bespoke' dinners put together with true passion were a rare delight. Cordon Bleu dishes were beautifully prepared, presented and served in a charming environment by a team dedicated to pure customer service. Bottom line: I'll be back!

A beautiful guesthouse with very good service and friendly staff who went out of their way to accomodate us. We held our conference here last weekend. THe conference facility worked perfectly for us - 18 persons with good food and coffee. Thank you also for your kitchen where we held our icebreaker - a Masterchef challenge - and also for all the preparation that you did for us.

It was interesting time with my colleagues and it was highly secured to stay safely. I need to appreciate woman/ladies who are working in the guesthouse. They did all their responsibility for the guests. Thanks a lot!!

The room are fine, the place is clean, but i had to kill two massive big cocroaches a size of a small bird. I am still traumatised. in the morning i had to endure a cold shower for some strange reason.

Hi Mr Jiya

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review.

We would like to sincerely apologize about this awful experience you had and ensure you that we always provide the utmost care for our guests when we are informed about these type of situations.

As we were not aware of what you had experienced, we would like to suggest for future reference, to inform any of the staff members about any problems you might find or that might occur.

However, the cockroaches in Durbanville are very comfortable with the fact that they love flying into open windows at night and therefore we can only advise to ensure to close the windows and sliding doors at night.

Once again, we would like to apologize and trust that your next stay with us will be without any surprises.

Kind Regards
The Cape Pillars Team

Great for us as we needed to be near our family in the area. Also perfectly central to visit the city centre for day trips and the winelands. The staff are extremely professional and friendly without being smothering. It is safe and secure without feeling caged in. Excellent WiFi coverage which is not easy to access in SA! We would liked to have had a TV with international news coverage, but other than that we have not one other negative comment. Thank you for making the last bit of our holiday exceptionally enjoyable.

A colleague and I spent 12 nights at Cape Pillars on a recent business trip. Our rooms were excellent in every respect as was the warmth of the welcome and the quality of both food and service. What particularly distinguishes Cape Pillars is the warm family atmosphere in which every effort is made to ensure guests are comfortable and all requirements are met. I particularly appreciated their thoughtful efforts when struck with food poisoning following a business lunch in a nearby Durbanville restaurant.
For overseas visitors in particular Cape Pillars is excellent value as well as being very conveniently located for a visitor wishing to enjoy the wide range of attractions on offer in the Cape Town area.
The only suggestion for improvement I would make is to provide satellite TV in every room as the local stations leave something to be desired.
Monica, Lola, Louise and Rita (as does Heidi the neighbour) all deserve our warmest thanks and we very much look forward to our return.
