“Good food”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

We popped in for a quick lunch after a morning out and about. The chicken pie was good (not an old fashioned chicken pie, though, more's the pity). The hot chocolate was great and the draft beer also good.

“Food not up to standard”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

We decided to go to S & L because they offer some South African Traditional food items on their menu like Pap & Sous (Mealie porridge and & sauce), Pumpkin fritters, Milk tart etc. The pap & sauce was reheated in the microwave and arrived piping hot. The Pumpkin fritters were paper thin and tasteless. The Steak was not aged, definitely not 28 days matured as described on the menu. R 22 for a sauce not enough for a 400g sirloin steak the equivalent of 3 table spoons full. Typos appear on wine list. Majority of the patrons was drinking beer, reason wines is overpriced. No BYO allowed. I do not like my food served on a plank from a hygienic point of view. The twitter link on Slug & Lettuce’s website does not work. S & L nothing more than an average steak house and the food was not up to standard.

“As healthy as you want it”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

Being on a healthy eat plan its difficult to find a restaurant with options of salads in stead of chips and grilled in stead of fried food. We had chicken sosaties (Like Ouma did it with apricots) and salad. Very Yummy...... their tapas menu is also very nice , but I guess not that healthy

“Great place”
Reviewed 16 February 2014 via mobile

Wide range of food (Chilli poppers, Nachos, Steak, Fish-dishes etc.) Good and fast service. Outside seating is first-come-first-serve. Bookings are only for inside. Very busy on weekends so book early. Smoking section is limited to closed off bar and outside. No smoking inside.
